A few months later
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The front door opened and closed loudly. From the kitchen, I yelled, "Keith, is that you?" He walked in, opened the refrigerator, and dug around, looking for something to eat.
"No, it's an intruder," he answered sarcastically, "Who else has a key?". We both burst out laughing and I lightly punched his shoulder.
"So, did anything interesting happen today?" I asked as he pulled a piece of chocolate cake out of the fridge.
"Those damn Socs got Pony," he said through a mouthful of cake.
"Is he okay?"
"Yeah. We got there in time," Two-Bit said, walking into the living room. I followed him. "Oh, and Dally got out of jail."
"I thought he was still in there for at least another week?" I exclaimed, suddenly stopping.
"I don't know, Jenny. He said he got out early," he said, turning on the TV. I sat down on the couch, shocked. I wasn't ready to face Dallas after the last time we had seen each other.
~~~
"I'm probably going to the drive-in later on, do you want to come?" Two-Bit asked.
"Who else is going?"
"Just some of the guys," he answered, looking away.
"Which ones?" I raised my eyebrows at him.
"Pony, Johnny, and Dally." he answered slowly.
"Then count me out," I muttered, turning to go back to my bedroom. Two-Bit shrugged and went back to whatever he had been doing before.
~~~
"Jenny! I'll be back later!" Two-Bit shouted as the front door creaked open.
"Okay. I might come to the drive-in later," I shouted back.
"Alright." The door slammed shut behind him. I didn't want to see Dally, but I haven't seen Pony or Johnny in a while. Besides, knowing Dallas, he wouldn't spend much time actually sitting around watching the movie. Instead, he'd go cause as much trouble as he could.
I sighed. How was it that I knew all this about him, but I could never figure out what he was thinking? When we were together, I couldn't tell if he loved me or if it was an act. Maybe that's why I had ended it.
