We make it back to her place, and she is reluctant about inviting me inside. I assure her I will not do anything.
We get inside and enjoy a glass of wine together. I have a surprise for Alyssa, and I think this is a good time to give it to her.
I reach in my pocket and take out the tiny box with two rings. Promise rings. I kneel on the floor in front of the couch where she is sitting.
"Alyssa, will you accept this promise ring? It's my word on waiting and respecting what we have. I want it to be official, but until then, I want us to wait. I want the moment that we become official, be the moment we give ourselves to each other fully. I have never felt this way about any other female, and I'm glad it's you. Be mine, Alyssa. Be my girl."
Her eyes are teary, and she sticks her finger out towards me. I slide the ring on, and she leans forward to hug me.
"I love you, Amy, more than I have ever loved anything else. Yes, I am yours."
I am so happy at this moment. I have been waiting to hear these words from her.
"I love you, too, Alyssa."
We spend about another hour in each other's company, before I say goodnight.
I know these remaining few months will be torture, but I know we can make it. I have found a girl that I am willing to wait for. I feel like I can wait forever for Alyssa. I have found love for the first time.
