Laws of Attraction: 24

           

The Faulkerson and Mendoza couples were seated in the conference room waiting for RJ, Maine, Drei and Jing.

"Ricardo, ano ba meron?" Rose asked her husband.

"Hon, let's just wait for the RJ's team."

"Ano ba ito at kailangan niyo magpatawag ng emergency meeting?" Anne quipped in.

"Sweetheart, kase..." Theo started to speak.

"Ano ba yan Theodoro, bakit parang di mo masabi?"

"Hindi kase... ganito yon. Kase Kanina may pumunta dito."

"Oh tapos?"

"Ayon, gusto daw kame kausapin ni Compadre. Ayaw pa nga magpakilala nung una. Ang iniisip ko baka isang nangangailangan na hihingi ng tulong, kaya pinapasok namin."

"So ano daw ang kailangan niya?"

"They asked us to drop Tuviera." Richard Sr. said.

At that instance, RJ and Maine walked in followed by Drei and Jing.

"What do you mean drop the Tuviera case?" RJ immediately asked looking at his father directly.

"Tay, Ano to? Bakit kailangang bitawan?" Maine also asked.

"Oh, andyan na kayo. Pumasok na muna kayo at umupo." Rose addressed RJ's team. She then turned to her husband and said, "Hon, simulan mo na lang ulit para malinaw."

"Dad, Mom. We can't just drop the Tuviera case." RJ again spoke.

"RJ, Iho, calm down. I know you're getting impatient here but listen to us first." Theo said.

RJ breathe deeply and then he spoke, "Okay Tito. I'm ready to listen."

"Okay. I'll start from the beginning." Theo said as he looks at everyone in the room. "Earlier today, we had a visitor. This visitor initially refused to give his name. Despite that, we faced him and entertained him. When we asked his name, he told us his name is Alfred Dela Cruz."

"Tapos po?" Maine asked. "Tay, wag ka na po magpasuspense."

"Menggay!" Mary Anne reprimanded her daughter.

"It's okay Sweetheart." Theo said as he gave a small smile to his wife. "Then, when we asked what he needs from us, he said it's about the Tuviera case. He said that the case is dragging too long. That's its getting too much exposure from the media."

"So? What does the case has to do with him?" RJ asked.

"Well, he said his employer doesn't like it. That they want this controversy to die down."

"And why is that? I mean the case is already controversial from the very start. What else did the man said?" Rose asked.

"Well, he said that his employer wanted us to resign from handling the case. That his employer is willing to pay whatever amount just for us to drop Tuviera."

"What?!?! That guy is lunatic." RJ said who sounded totally disgusted. "Did he thought that by dangling huge amount of money in front of you, you'll give in? That's crazy."

"RJ, son calm down." Richard Sr. said then he continued, "When we refused his offer, he then tried to even get our firm as their legal council."

"No way!" Richard said as he stands up and slapped his hand on the table.

"RJ, son, I said calm down."

"Sir, that's clearly bribery." Drei butt in.

"You're right." Theo acknowledge what Drei said, "When we didn't accept his offer, he then resorted to threatening."
