At around 9:30 AM, Maine just finished fixing her things on her new office, so she decided to go to the pantry to get some coffee for the day. She's very excited to join the firm. Since she was a child, she was already used to these hallways. Her parents usually brings her here with them. Being the youngest daughter of the Mendoza's, she's considered as the apple of the eye of his father. There are five in the family and Maine is the youngest. All of her four sibling's age are close. The Mendozas thought that their fourth child, Dean will be their last. But 10 years after, the Mendoza couple had Maine. So, from that time on, Maine became their princess. Her siblings might always been teasing her, but at the end of the day, everybody knows that they are all wrapped around her little fingers.

Maine was just about to prepare for her meeting with father when someone walked inside her walk station. When she saw the person who walked in, it immediately put a frown on her face.

"So, your royal highness... you're finally here." the person said on a teasing voice.

"What are you doing here?" Maine asked.

"Hey, that's rude. I'm here to welcome you, your grace."

Maine just puffed and answered irritably, "Yeah, right. You... of all people, will welcome me?" Maine said sarcastically.

"Well, you're right." He admitted. "Why would I?"

"I don't know with you. Are you finally, going to admit that I'm better than you?" Maine said.

"Excuse me?!? You, better than me? Are you daydreaming?" he continued. "Me, Richard Faulkerson Jr.? you might have forgotten who you're talking to."

"I'm not daydreaming. Yes, i say, I'm better compared to you." Maine retorted.

Richard, then sat on the chair in front of Maine's table, picked up the gleaming name plate and pretended to examine it. "Haha, you really had your name put into this?"

"It's the gift of my family. And why not?" Maine said. Nothing can ruin my day. Nothing can ruin my day. This is the mantra Maine keeps telling herself as she tries to stop herself from responding to Richard's banter.

"Well, I don't think you should call yourself a lawyer already. You haven't won a case yet, let alone handled one." Richard pointed out.

"Excuse me? I am a lawyer. I passed the bar. Baka nakakalimutan mo, top 2 po ako." Maine said.

"Baka nalilimutan mo din, I was top 2 as well on my batch. So you can't brag that about me. As for me, I have not yet, lost a case." Richard said.

"Really? From what I remember, you lost your first case." Maine pointed out.

Richard now has the audacity to turn red. "Technically, that's not counted. I was not the one who handled that initially. It was only given to me when the original lawyer resigned."

"Ha! Still, you lose." Maine said with a smirked on her eyes.

"No, I didn't!" Richard retorted.

"Oh, yes you did."

"Did not!"

They were bickering back and forth, when they heard someone cleared their throat.

"Uhhmmm"

"What's happening here, RJ?"

"Ahhhmm, nothing Mom." Richard answered.

"Are you pestering Nicomaine again?"

"No, Mom!" Richard vehemently denied.

"Yes, Tita!" Maine answered in unison.

"That's not true Mom." Richard tried to deny.

"It is! He's saying things to me." Maine said like a 3 year old kid with puppy dog eyes and pouting lips.

Richard was about to argue but was foretold by his mother. "RJ, where are your manners? Para ka pa ring bata. Simula noon, si Maine na lagi ang inaasar mo."

"Hay, naku kayong dalawa. Para pa rin kayong aso't pusa. Hindi magkasundo." Mary Anne added.

"RJ, you know that you should treat Maine nicely. We didn't thought you to disrespect women, especially young ladies." Rose Faulkerson reprimanded his son.

"Uu nga Tita." Maine quipped in. Then she turned to Richard and put out his tongue in a teasing way towards Richard.

"Menggay! Ikaw naman? Hindi mo dapat ginaganyan si RJ. Matanda ka na, di ka na dapat napipikon sa kanya." Mary Anne also told her daughter.

"Hay, naku kayo. Di talaga naming kayo maintindihan. Bakit kayo ganyan. Pag nagkikita parang aso't pusa. Walang tigil ang asaran, awayan." Mary Anne added.

"Naku Anne, wag mo na pagalitan si Menggay. Sigurado ako si RJ nanaman ang nagsimula nito." Rose said.

"Mom! Ako ang anak mo. Ako dapat ang kampihan mo. Hindi yang..." Richard said.

"Tama na RJ. Wag mo na ituloy yang sasabihin mo. Totoo naman ang nisasabi ko eh. Ikaw ang nagsimula. Hindi kumpleto ang araw mo pag di mo naiinis si Menggay." Rose said.

Richard knew better than to answer back. He knows that everyone adores Maine as she's the princess of the family. Heck, even his own mother adores her. Well, he can't blame his mother. She wanted a daughter but was not blessed to have one. So, she dotes on all the Mendoza sisters especially Maine.

"Okay, enough it this. Nicomaine, just follow me. We will go to your father's office now." Mary Anne said.

Maine nodded and took her new notebook and pen. She will come in prepared for her first assignment.

"As for you young man, your father also wanted to talk to you." Rose told his son.

Richard finally rose from where he is seated and said, "Fine. Let's go Mom. Tita, we will go ahead." He said as he nodded towards Mary Anne.

"See you around squirt!" Richard teased one last time before actually leaving.

All four of them went out towards the bosses' offices.
