Aliyah

Chapter 7

Travis was getting more depressed as the winter months rolled around. He lost his job and the bills were piling up. There were extra mouths to feed and he was getting fed up with everyone's nagging and asking so he turned to drugs that was his happiness he only took them when his children were at school.The little money he was making was was from his late wife's business she had made sure that if she ever died the kids would have some source of income and that would be from her business.

Aliyah knew something was wrong her dad wasn't as happy anymore he stayed on the couch and watched T.V. all the time he didn't make breakfast for them anymore. She sewed in her free time making clothes and shoes for her siblings and herself when her dad stopped taking her shopping for school clothes and shoes.

She left the house without saying a word to her father and making her way to school with Mark. Dominique didn't see a point of walking it was cold and it was extra work. She looked at Mark who had a red nose

"you sick" She asked looking at him. He sniffed and the sneezed
"Nope" he told her smiling she rolled her eyes and shrugged her shoulders better him then her.

They walked into school together and saw Dominique looking at the other kids and laughing.

"What's funny" Aliyah asked sitting down next to Dominique.
"We got a new kid" Dominique said.

Aliyah looked and saw him he was a dark chocolate who was tall for his age. he had a whole bunch of girls around him asking him if he knew where he needed to go. He made her heart flutter she stared at him and quickly looked away when he glanced at her.Mark looked at Aliyah's actions and laughed

"you like him" He told her.
"Shut up no I don't,I don't even know him" She told him crossing her arms and shaking her head.
"Yeah you do my sister does the same thing when she likes a boy" He told her laughing Dominique just stared at his friends and wondered why they were arguing.

After they finished their bickering they made their way to homeroom. Mrs. Thearton was busy handing out work to notice a whole bunch of giggles from the girls. Then she saw new kid and chuckled and shook her head at the young love.

"Alright class I want y'all to get into groups of four and we are going to play a game of Jeopardy and if you win you get candy" She said smiling and showing them a jar of candy that was just for them.

The trio needed one more member
"Dante you can be in our group" One of the groups said he shrugged and walked over there. Mark was happy that the attention was off of him. They started the game and the trio was doing pretty good they were in second place. But Aliyah wanted that candy and she wasn't going to  let anyone stop her from getting it. She started answering questions left and right and not letting anyone getting the chance to answer. Mrs.Thearton was impressed and knew who was going to win. Both of her teammates sat down and talked among each other.

After the game the teacher gave the jar to the trio.
"Wanna eat it at recess or lunch" Dominique asked
"Both you see how big this jar is" Aliyah said wide eyed and smiling.
"Yeah we can sit underneath the desks" Mark told them.

Recess came around and the trio went underneath their desks.
"What do y'all wanna be when you grow up" Dominique asked.
"A Fashion Designer" Aliyah said smiling thinking about her mom.
"A football player or engineer" Mark told them.
"I wanna be a dog trainer" Dominique smiled.

Dante came and sat with them.
"Who are you" Mark asked looking at him.
"Dante you" He said looking at him. Aliyah's heart started pounding like crazy she ate her candy silently and observed their conversation.
"what did you come here for" he asked pushing the jar behind him.
"Whatchu doing Mark" She asked looking at the bowl.
"Sorry shortie" He told her handing the the bowl and she took her candy and smiled.

Dante looked at the candy and smiled.
"What's your name" He asked looking at Aliyah.
"Aliyah" She smiled and looked at him he knew that she had some feeling towards him and he was going to use her to get more things in the future.
"Pretty name for a pretty face" He said smiling copying a pick up line he remembered his dad using. His comment made Aliyah tingly inside
"Thank you" She said smiling.
"You wanna take a walk in the hallway" He asked standing up and grabbing her hand she nodded and they left the classroom when the teacher wasn't looking.

"You wanna be in my team when we play a game like that" He asked.
"Yeah sure" Aliyah caught on to what he was doing and she played his game. Her dad told her it was an eat or be eaten world. After he got fired. She never knew what it meant but she had a strong feeling that this was what he meant and she was going to come back and hurt him before he could do any damage to her.
