[Prompt: Not many people wouldwillingly choose my company.]
Your steps echoed through the room. You didn't try to muffle the sound; you wanted the man to be aware of your presence.
„Bored again, dimension hopper?" he asked calmly form where he was sitting. It was almost as if he predicted you'd come today and knowing him, maybe he did. Maybe you came because you knew he knew you're coming soon.
"Hmm, it gets lonely out there," you sighed as you looked out of the window. It looked the same everywhere, how boring. The people however, were quite interesting. This man, for example, intrigued you so much you always returned to him like a tamed animal. You nearly scoffed at the image.
"And out of all your possibilities you chose me?" he asked, not a bit of surprise in his voice. Clever bastard. Sometimes you wished he wasn't intelligent like that but then again, that's what always brought you back. You needed someone to discuss and analyse what you've seen with.
"What a shock, huh?" you clicked your tongue as you made your way to the sofa he was watching you from. He raised his blood red eyes to your face, looking at you in a way you couldn't decipher.
"Not many people would willingly choose my company," he said, his eyes never leaving yours. He was trying to figure you out, you finally understood.
"More like no one, don't you think?" you joked, voice strained as your throat constricted. Why were you always so nervous under that crimson gaze? He saw right through it, observant as ever.
You sighed in defeated as you plopped down next to him. He made no attempt to move even when you leaned against him, laying your head on his shoulder. "You're not boring like the rest of them," you smiled a bit, "you're not my friend, but you're not an enemy either, I guess it's just a nice change." You wondered aloud, only tensing when you felt his head touch yours. "I think so too," he replied.
A comfortable silence enveloped you, yet it felt like everything important had been shared already. You will speak again, tell him about your latest adventures, discuss your experiences with him, but somehow it felt like this quiet moment was more important than anything you had to say.
