[Prompt: Do you call that perfect execution? Again.]
The iron scent of blood hung in the air heavily. It was so dark you could almost imagine that what you stood in was water. Your clothes were soaked in it too.
Some of it was yours. You pressed the wound on your arm more, squeezing some more hot blood out. You stayed quiet. Complaining about the punishment won't help at all.
Life in the mafia teaches you many things. Never opposing your superiors was one of them. As was getting used to being covered in the invigorating liquid both yours and of those who oppose you.
"Do you call that perfect execution? Again," he ordered with tone that left no time for arguments. Then he coughed but you knew better than to think of it as a sign of weakness.
"Yes, Akutagawa-san," you said numbly, letting go of your arm. At least your blood served to warm you up.
You stood up from your kneeling position if front of him and went to turn around to another captive you were supposed to dispose of when a hand on your shoulder stopped you.
You looked up. His jaw was clenched and brow furrowed. He wasn't looking at you – as always when he was thinking about something that was hard for him. When it came to you, it was mostly feelings.
Finally he shifted his silver gaze to you. "You know I'm doing this for your own good, don't you?" he spoke lowly. Whispering is too easy to hear in silence.
"I'm alright, it's okay," you nodded reassuringly. It was okay. You needed the training. Needed to get stronger and more capable. If only he was getting better at this whole relationship thing too.
How hard can it be to say 'I care about you' or 'I don't really wanna hurt you' or 'I love you'?
