[Prompt: Stars pale in comparison to you.]
Leaning against the railing of the balcony, you watched the night sky. The thin fabric of your cardigan did little to stop the cold from biting into your skin but you paid it no mind. You needed a little fresh air.
"Is something the matter?" came a velvety voice. You jumped in surprise. A pair of arms snaked around your waist as he pulled you close from behind. You relaxed, resting your head against his chest.
"Just stargazing," you replied, closing your eyes for a while. His body was warm against yours, his long white hair tickling your skin. He didn't braid it tonight, you noted. You always liked him better with his hair flowing down his back freely.
He hummed in response, looking up. "The sky is indeed beautiful tonight," he agreed. His arms loosened their hold as you turned around.
"Stars pale in comparison to you," you cupped his cheek. The whole beauty of the universe above you was reflected in his crimson eyes. With his face framed by his snowy hair, he almost seemed to be glowing himself. Your star. Your moon. Your everything. He looked so ethereal – like a creature of legends merely hiding in the skin of a human. To some extent it might be true, you wondered as your thumb fell down to his lips.
A faint smile stretched under the pad of your finger. He stroked your cheek softly with the back of his hand. You leaned into the touch, grateful for the gentle gesture. Soon he brought your face closer to his, rubbing your noses to together. It was most unusual for him to be in such affectionate mood. You let your hands fall down around his waist, tightly hugging him with your fists gripping the fabric of his shirt. You nuzzled into his shoulder, inhaling his calming fresh scent.
He chuckled, leaning his forehead against the top of your head. His hands stroked up and down your back, softly massaging along the spine. He was careful not to scratch you too much with his black claws. You purred contently, wondering what has gotten into him but you stayed silent. It was no reason to complain; only to let to sink in just how fortunate you were.
"You must be cold," he noted quietly but made no effort to drag you back inside nor did he let go of you. Instead, he nuzzled closer, pressed you to him with gentle pressure.
"Not with you here," you murmured and turned your head to place tender kisses along the curve of his neck. He chuckled, tightening his hold on you ever so slightly as he rubbed his cheek against your hair to calm you.
"I'm always here," he whispered. It was a simple statement; yet it sounded like a promise too.
