He was a mess. A panicking mess. Thousands of images swirled in his mind, rendering him useless. This wasn't happening; he thought as he dropped to his knees. He didn't just lose. He couldn't have lost. He prided himself on his deductive abilities and now this guy he never heard of before just comes and beats him?

He was angry. But even more than that, he was scared.

Terrified out of his mind.

"I love you because you're so intelligent." You said it yourself. It wasn't the only reason, he knew. He remembered and cherished your every little word of reassurance. This one he was very fond of though and now it felt like he somehow betrayed you, didn't meet your expectations.

You're going to leave him. Find someone better – maybe even the guy he just lost to. It would be his own fault because he never accepted your feelings, always feeling unworthy of them. And now he'll have to watch you laugh with someone else, kiss someone else.

The thought made sharp pain stab through his heart and forced him to his feet. He just ran. Ran to where you were waiting for him – or were supposed to.

He rushed through the corridors until he escaped out and there you were – sitting on a bench, book in your hands. You immediately looked at him as if sensing his presence.

He breathed out a sigh of relief, quickly erasing the few steps between you before crouching down and grabbing your hand softly into his. "Love, what's wrong?" you chuckled confusedly.

"Please... Be mine. Let me be yours," he blurted out, not really caring how pathetic he must have sounded. "Be the love of my life," he raised his purplish eyes to meet yours. They were filled with tears. The blood froze in his veins.

He messed up. He said something wrong and now you won't... His thoughts were cut short as his cheeks were cupped and lips smashed against yours.

Not even he was naïve enough to believe that meant 'no'.
