*Author's Note: While going back over chapter 6 on my Microsoft version of this, I realized it was pretty long, so I'll break it up into parts.
SATURDAY
Saturday morning came and Jael was already wide awake at 9am just lying in the bed. She barely slept a wink because of the excitement that had been boiling in her stomach like a pot of water.Today was the day that she had a date with Davin.
It seemed like he also couldn't get her off his mind because the two were texting each other all day Friday up until about 11pm when they decided to call each other and talk on the phone until 2am Saturday morning.
She didn't know what it was about him, but they just clicked. It was easy to talk to him and the conversation never reached a point of boredom. He told her all about his days and what he did during them, and she told him hers. She told him about her first encounter with Damien and how she kept her siblings alive by making a contract with him.
Jael could tell by the tone in his voice after telling him the story, that he was upset. It seemed like he didn't know how things went down. She wondered if Damien even told him what happened. Would she be able to use Davin to her advantage in trying to get out of her contract with his brother? Sure, that was probably shady and deceiving as fuck, but he may be her only way of finding out the truth.
Kostas, Lucia, and Byron were the subjects of the next part of their conversation. Jael told Davin all about how the four of them met and became best friends, how the four of them were inseparable and there for each other. In return, Davin told her all about his two best friends, Phineas and Tae who he had known since he was a child.
"A child? How old even are you guys? I've never thought to ask," Jael questioned him. She was lying in one of those awkward positions that you do while on the phone with someone special and the conversation is really good.
Davin laughs, "You mean to tell me you've never asked Damien how old he is?"
"No. I've never asked. I'm also a bit too afraid to ask him that. I feel like he would just glare at me and that would be the response."
"Hahaha, well, technically we're both 326 and our sister is 250. However, whenever a human asks we both just say 26 and she just says 25."
Jael goes silent for a good thirty seconds contemplating why she was about to go on a date with an old man.
"You still there pretty Lady?" Davin asks wondering if he has scared her off.
"Uhh. So like, are you guys considered young or, like uhh, old?"
A deep hearty laugh billows from Davin's chest, moves through his throat, and up out of his mouth.
"Are you kidding? I'm still a young guy. I'm cool beans and down with the dope homies! Isn't that what you young whippersnappers say these days? I'm lit?"
Now it was her turn to laugh, "Oh my good gracious. Don't ever say that shit again," she laughs repeatedly.
The both of them laugh for a while just enjoying the sounds of the other's joyous noise.
"Well to finally answer you, yes the three of us are still considered young. My father is still alive. He's roughly in his late 600s and my mother is in her mid-600s."
"You're saying these numbers like it's just normal to be living so long into dinosaur years. Like what in the world. Your mom still had the ability to have babies so old?!"
"Keep in mind that reapers live a lot longer than humans do. You'd be surprised how agile a woman still is even in her 300s."
"Are you low key trying to tell me that you got hoes," Jael teases and laughs again and so does he.
