Chapter 8

I can't believe I like Ashton. I never saw this one coming. Today is going to be weird.

I woke up twenty minutes ago and I'm still sitting in bed. I'm just thinking about how today is going to go. I'm kinda nervous. I mean, the last time I was in a relationship was only six months ago. That guy was a real hottie. We were head over heals for each other, but after about three months, I was starting to loose that feeling. I guess he was too because he cheated on me.

I decide to finally get up out of bed. I pick up my phone and head downstairs. I see my mom in the kitchen leaning against the table. She was looking at her phone.

"Hi mom."

"Hi sweetie."

"I haven't seen you in a while. Where are you and dad always disappearing to? I never see you two anymore."

"Sorry honey, but we have jobs. I have to stay at work late a lot of nights now. And your dad, well, I actually don't know why he stays late." She looked a little confused.

"Is he here?"

"Yes. He's in his office."

"I think I'm going to go talk to him quick." She nodded.

I walked over to my dad's office and saw that the door was closed. I knocked and he opened it within seconds.

"Hi," he said.

"Hi dad."

My dad and I have this awkward relationship. I never really talk to him anymore so we're not very close.

"I haven't seen you around lately. Can we talk qui-"

He cut me off, "Listen. I'd really love to "catch up" right now but I have work to do." And then he slammed the door in my face.

That son of a bitch.

I walked up to my room to call Rebecca. I need to know how that date went!

"Hey," she said.

"Hi. How did your date go last night?"

I heard her sigh. Oh god. It went horrible, I just know it.

"I'm so sorry, Bec! There are other guy-"

"No! The date was amazing, Nikki!"

She fooled with me. That sigh was totally fake.

"Jeez! Don't scare me like that again! So are you guys official yet? Or are you going on more dates first?"

"We're actually going on a date tonight! We're going to the park to just walk around and get to know each other."

"That sounds amazing. I have something kind of like a date tonight. It's more of a friend date, though. I'm going with Ashton."

"Um, who the hell is Ashton?"

Oh yeah. I forgot, I never told her about him. How could I forget that?

"Do you remember the first day of school and you ran into that one guy when you were running down the hallway? His papers flew all over the place."

"Yeah. That's him?"

"That's him. I've been hanging out with him and his friends this week. They're so fun. You should meet them sometime!"

"Maybe I will. I got to go now and get ready for my date."

"Bye. Have fun!"

"Yeah, yeah." Then she hung up.

It's 12:00. I don't know what to do. I don't have to start getting ready for like two hours.
