~Ashton's Pov~
Dr. Roy calls me at 1 o'clock in the afternoon. He says I can come by the hospital to see her. I've been waiting for that call all day.

I get to the hospital in fifteen minutes. I walk in and smile at the woman behind the front desk. She smiles back.

"Hello. Can I help you will something?" She asks very politely.

"I'm here to visit Nikki Reed."

"Ah, yes. She's in room 284," she says with a smile.

"Thank you."

I start walking to her new room. She's sitting up in her bed eating a sandwich. She looks perfectly normal. Almost like she never got hurt.

Dr. Roy sees me walk in and comes over to me.

"Can I talk to you in the hallway?"

I nod and we walk towards the door. "Is she bad?" I ask.

"Not too bad. She's pretty forgetful."

I look down at the ground. I feel my eyes starting to water. No Ashton. Don't cry.

I sigh. "Is it bad?"

He shrugs. "It's hard to tell. It depends on how damaged her brain is."

"How long? How long will it be until she's....you know.....back to 'normal'?"

"I don't know, son. It might take days, weeks. Maybe even months. I need you to do one thing," I nod. "I need you to make sure she's in her regular routine again. Just so she starts to remember everything again. Can you make sure that happens?"

"Yes. She'll live with me. I'll be with her every second of everyday."

"Good. She'll need that. You're a good boyfriend Ashton. She's lucky she has someone who cares about her so much."

I smile and start to walk back into the room. Nikki is sitting in her bed drawing. I sit down next to her. She looks up from her drawing and looks at me. She smiles then starts to draw again.

"Hey Nikki. Do...do you know who I am?"

She stops drawing and looks me right in the eyes.

"No."

I can see in her eyes that she doesn't know me. She doesn't even look like Nikki right now. It's breaks my heart having to see her like this. I hate it.
-
Dr. Roy says I can I take her home today. She's doing better, but she's still not perfect. I miss her. I just want my Nikki back. But at this rate, that might not be for a long time.

Nikki and I are in my car driving back to my house. She looks a little confused. I don't think she knows me at all.

"So, am I losing my mind? I feel like I don't know anything or anyone."
I sigh. "Nikki, you're a little forgetful now and then, but you'll get better soon."

"Okay. Next question. Who are you exactly?"

"I'm Ashton, your boyfriend."

"Oh," she starts to look out the window. We just sit in silence for a minute or so. "Were we dating very long?"

"No, maybe two months."

"Oh, okay. So am I staying at your house forever now?" I nod. "Are my parents dead or something?"

I wish they were.

"No, they....just have problems right now that they need to work out."

She looks at her hands on her lap. A single tear runs down her cheek and then she starts to look out of the window again.

She's really hurting, I can tell. I mean, I don't blame her. First, you find out your parents don't love you, then you get in a horrible car crash, and then you don't remember anything. Her life is a living hell and I need to help her fix it.

It's my responsibility to help her. It's all on me. You can do this Ashton. Do it for the girl you love.

For Nikki.
