"Um, hi." I said to Ashton.

"Hi."

I punched him in the shoulder in a playful way and he grabbed his arm.

"Ow. Why did you hit me? That was rude."

I rolled my eyes.

Mr. Tomas was yelling at two kids who were making out against the wall. This is going to be a very interesting year...

"Alright kids, settle down. We need to start class now." Mr. Thomas said.

Everyone sat down after he said that and I was very surprised.

Throughout the class, Ashton and I would sneak funny faces at each other when Mr. Thomas wasn't looking. Once he turned around while I was making one and he just glared at me. I sent him an apologetic look and he went back to teaching. Ashton just smiled really big and was trying hard not to laugh.

After class, I literally ran to my locker to get everything. I really wanted to go home. School is torture.

When I closed my locker, Ashton was leaning against the other lockers.

"Hi Nikki!" He said with a really cheesy smile.

"Hi Ashton!" I said the same way he did. "What's up?"

"I'm just going to make this short, ok?" I nodded. "Can I have your number?"

"Yeah, I guess. Give me your phone doofus." He smirked at me. All dimples.

I put my number in him phone and gave it back to him. "Thanks!"

"Yeah, yeah. Well, I'm going to go home now! Bye Ash." I said and waved goodbye to him.

As I was walking away, my phone buzzed. I took it out of my pocket and unlocked it. It was an unfamiliar number I knew it had to be Ashton.

To: Me

From: 432-753-9643

Hello! I see you!!!! :P

I turned around and saw Ashton still standing at my locker smiling at me.

I yelled, "You're such a dork!" Then I kept on walking to the buses.

I walked into my house and went straight to the kitchen, as I always do after school. I got a glass of water, a chocolate bar, and some Oreos. I don't usually eat this much but this was the first day of school! I had to celebrate not dying of boredom!

I just walked into my bedroom when my phone rang. It was Rebecca.

"What's up brotha?"

"You need to get over here right now."

"Why? Is everything alright?"

"Just get over here." And then she hung up.

I took all my snacks with me in my purse and then I biked to her house, which was about a fifteen minute ride from here.

I knocked on her front door and she opened it and pulled me inside. She dragged me to her room and then she shut the door.

"What was so urgent that you needed me right away?"

"One word, outfit. I need to pick one out for the date I have with Jason! I'm so worried that he's not going to like what I'm going to wear and I'm freaking out Nik! IM FREAKING OUT!!!!" She took at deep breath and say down on the bed.

I sat down next to her and put my arm around her. "It's okay, Becca. Don't worry about your outfit too much. He'll like you for who you are, not what you look like."

"I guess your right." She stood up and looked through her closet. After an hour, she finally decided on denim shorts with a sky blue v-neck t-shirt and black vans.

I'm so jealous of how she dresses. Her outfits are so cute yet simple.

"Well, I have homework so I better leave." I said. I walked over to her and gave her a hug. I love hugs.

"Bye. Ride home safe!"

I rolled my eyes and walked outside. I picked up my bike and rode home. And when I pulled into the parking lot, I saw my parents were home.

I walked in the house and started walking up to my room. But then I started to hear crying. Then yelling. They were having a fight again. I just walked up slowly and went in my room and tried to drown out the sounds of unhappy parents.
