{You and Henry meet at the carnival}
·

You waited patiently outside of the entrance of the carnival as your two best friends Anne and Grace bickered about what you three would do first. "I hope you two aren't going to do this the whole time." You said as the three of you walked into the fairly big crowd of people. "Of course not. I have an art stand to check out." Anne said suggesting something in the way she said it and looked at Grace as she did so. "That's great but taste-testing different foods from around the world sounds better." Grace replied. "Look you guys how about you go to your separate places and then we meet back here and head to the Ferris wheel." You stopped them in the middle of the path as you offered a suggestion to end this light dispute. "Fine." They both said as they satisfyingly went their separate ways. You decided to grab a small order of fries to snack on while sitting on a bench closest to the center to wait for them. Your eyes wandered through the many faces of different ones that were at this event with their friends and families and during this spontaneous observance, your eyes landed on a man. A man different from the rest, more handsome too. His dark locks covered his forehead and his physic was unimaginably fit and poise. You couldn't stop your gaze from lingering on him. It wasn't until a voice beside you asked why you were staring so long that you realized you had now made eye contact with this beautiful stranger. "You look so creepy just gawking at him like that." You turned to see Anne sitting beside you with a small plastic bag in her hand. You looked back at where you had seen the man and he was no longer there. You frowned internally but brushed it off. "What did you get?" Anne had been looking where he was last standing too, however, turned her attention back to you as she replied. "Some paintbrushes. I'm gonna paint you a picture of how lonely you are." She jokingly motioned brush strokes in the air as you pushed her arm lightly with a chuckle. You had given up on dating in the past year, having been disappointed by the failure of finding an at least decent guy to date.

---

Shortly thereafter, Grace returned taking a bite out of something you had never seen before she threw it in the trash can next to the bench you were sitting at. "Have fun?" She nodded patting her purposefully poked out stomach. "Alright, you guys ready to hit the wheel?" They both gathered their things as you guys began walking deeper into the carnival to reach the Ferris wheel.

---

"The lines are always horrid." Grace stated as you waited in the long line. "That's because this ride goes like one mile per hour." Anne exaggerated. "You guys seriously need to learn patience." You replied.

---

It was finally your turn to ride. Anne and Grace went ahead of you but a frown suddenly came upon your face. The ride only fit two to a cart. "Sorry Y/n." Anne said. "Do you have anyone to ride with?" The ride operator asked. "No, I don't" You shook your head. "Well, you can't ride by yourself." You were confused as she gave you this information. "What are you talking about I can't ride by myself? When was that ever a Ferris wheel rule?" You asked, revealing your slightly frustrated mood. She only shrugged and gave you a smug reply. "It's the rule. Find someone to ride with you or get over it." Right as you were about to reply a voice intercepted. "She can ride with me." You turned to the voice of the man that had spoken from beside you and your eyes landed on the same man from earlier. The one you had pushed to the back of your mind. The one who you thought was beautiful but figured you would never see again. "If that's alright with you." He towered above you as he looked down awaiting your response with a slight smirk plastered across his face. "Yeah that's, that's fine." Anne and Grace had already been up in the air before you and this beautiful stranger got in a cart. "Enjoy the ride." The worker said boringly. "I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable back there. I just saw that you wanted to get on and that worker was being rather rude." He said. At first, you weren't going to say anything to him but you did since you had to sit this whole ride with him. "If it made me uncomfortable I wouldn't be here now would I?" You asked with a smirk. You were still trying to figure out how to handle this nerve-wracking situation. "Right." He simply said with a light chuckle. "I'm Henry by the way," He said looking over his side of the seat. "Y/n." He then looked at you and smiled. He was even more handsome when he smiled. "Nice to meet you y/n." You nodded and silence crept over the two of you again. It itched you so you decided to break it. "Did you come here with any family?" You asked. "Just my sister and a friend of her's. They've just been dying to come here." You lightly smiled. "But I left them back at the candy apple stand since they didn't want me tagging along with them all day." He had answered your next question which was going to be where they were while he was sitting with you.

---

You and Henry finally made it to the top of the ride and it stopped with your cart overlooking almost all of the town. "It's beautiful up here isn't it?" Henry asked as he looked out over the many clustered buildings and open fields. "It is." You were quite amused by his love for the view. Someone who seemed so bold and strong was soft for something like this. However you kept thinking to yourself how he was even more beautiful than the sun that had begun to set, but you couldn't just come out and say that to a man whom you've just met half an hour ago.

---

"Thank you for riding with me Henry, it was nice meeting you." Anne and Grace were waiting for you by the end of the line as you and Henry walked through the exit of the ride. "Same here Y/n." You smiled and turned to walk away, but stopped in your tracks as your name was called out. "Y/n wait." You turned to see Henry pacing himself back over to you. "I uh...I know we've only just met but...I would like to get to know you some more...If that's possible." He struggled to get his words out which made your cheeks warm-up and you felt butterflies in your stomach. A man that held such confidence in his demeanor and boldness in his actions struggled to get out that he wanted to see more of you. "I'd like that." You said, which caused Henry to plaster a wide smile across his face. The two of you traded numbers. "I guess I should let you go now." He gestured to Anne and Grace who stood with their arms crossed and making kissy faces. The two of you chuckled and parted ways. You on your way back to your friends and Henry catching up with his sister and her friend who weren't too far from the Ferris Wheel.
