He sat at a desk diagonal from you for 7 hours every day. It was impossible to avoid Clark because of the close proximity that the two of you worked in. Of course, however, that meant it was easier for you to watch him do his work, drink his coffee, or conversate with other workers. You've only said a few words to him the whole two months he's been working here because at every opportunity to speak with him you create a reason not to. But the real reason is that you just can't for the life of you, stand in front of the 6'1" devilishly handsome reporter and have a normal conversation with him. Every time you crossed paths with him you would chuck your head down to avoid eye contact, and every time you were caught in the break room together you would leave as if you were done fixing your morning coffee though you many times missed out on putting in creamer or sugar. It was a pretty normal day and you didn't have much to do since you finished much of your reports the day before so you peacefully and readily started working on file organizing. But soon your ear caught hold onto something pulling your attention away from your file cabinet though your eyes still remained glued to the folders inside. His voice. You had a keen hearing for it and knew when he was around just from his full and satisfying laugh or the sounds he makes when he's in agreeance with something the boss said. Right now he was just a couple inches from you, standing in the middle of the row of desks that were in the same section as you. "I won't be able to do this on my own you know?" Clark said. He and Perry were speaking about a paper that required Clark to get out on the streets and get opinions of the people. Something regarding what should happen to that old abandoned library on Waybolly Hill. "Yeah, you'll need someone that's just as good as you," Perry said. You could feel their eyes melting holes into the back of your head, and your stomach tightened because as Perry has mentioned before, you're one of his, if not, the best employee he's had in a while. "Y/n?" His hand landed on your shoulder and you had to snap out of the nervous sickening trance you were in. "Yes, Perry?" You turned in your chair and stood up to give yourself eye to eye leveling with the two men but even still their height was towering. "I need you to work on this paper with Clark here, we need at least 50 people to speak on the decision that's gonna be made." You looked to Clark who threw you a small smile and you died a little inside. "Of course Perry we'll get right to it." He nodded the two of you off and continued on his way, talking to other workers as he did. So there stood you and Clark. Your heart was beating so hard in your chest that you heard the thumping in your head. You finally mustered up the guts to look at him after convincing yourself in your head that you could do this. His eyes were already on you. As if he were waiting for you to speak. "So we haven't gotten the chance to actually meet, I'm Y/n." You stuck your hand out to him leading to him grabbed a hold of it and shaking it gently. "I was wondering when I was gonna get that name. If you haven't heard what it is I'm Clark." You nodded and chuckled in embarrassment. "Yeah sorry about that." Was all you said. You really had no other excuse for not talking to him except for being shy and scared to do so. "So where do you think we should get started?" You asked changing the subject. This was something you should probably focus more on anyway instead of the fact that you two were gonna be working together for a while. "I'd say the heading first," Clark suggested as you followed him to his desk."Ok sounds good." You replied.

...

Once you and Clark had gotten the beginning of the report done it was time for you to head out of the office and get some interviews done. "Ready?" Clark came up to you with his jacket hanging over his forearm as he waited for you to go along with him. "I was born ready." You chuckled. But not because it was funny to you. You chuckled because you felt embarrassed for having said that you were born ready to interview people. The small chuckle that Clark gave you increased that feeling because you thought that maybe he was just doing that to make you feel better. After grabbing your jacket, notebook, and pen, the two of you headed out of the tall glass doors of the building. "So how long have you been working here?" Clark asked. You were glad that he was a conversation starter. "About three years now." You started. The conversation would carry into where you would have to head to next which was across the street. "I really like what I do here so until I find something I enjoy more then you can find me here." You finished, but you had become so involved in what you were saying that you didn't realize you had continued into the street before checking both sides of it. It was so sudden you didn't realize anything except a car horn blaring at you and your weight being lifted off the ground. Once you were back on your feet, you looked to the right of you where stood Clark who had pulled you out of the street. You took a brief moment to try to wrap your head around the commotion but you couldn't. All you could think about was how Clark was able to grab you and move you so quickly as he did. You could have sworn he scooped you up a second before you were in dangers path. "Woah." You said as you continued to the other side. "How did you-" You started, only to be cut off by him. "So do you live far from here?" Changing the subject you figured he didn't want to talk about what had just happened. So you put the question away and answered his as the two of you headed to your destination.
