He wasn't yours, but god, you wished he was.
That gorgeous, bi-coloured, aloof, very, very dense boy, had been paired up with the affluent, outrageously pretty Momo Yaoyorozu. It just wasn't fair, because they looked so good together - so good it made you sick. Tears threatened to spill down your cheeks, so you kept your head lowered. This was the perfect opportunity for them to make it official. Some of the words that escaped that girl's mouth dripped like poison on to your face. It really sounded as though she admired and adored him. She definitely trusted him. It was disgusting, but you couldn't do a single thing about it. They would meet up at the weekend, or perhaps even after school, go to one of their houses, study, work on the project, and then...
You shook your head - you didn't want to think about it.
"(L/n)-san?"
Plastering on a saccharine smile, you addressed her normally: "Yes, Yaoyorozu?"
She mirrored your expression, although hers was genuine. "Would you mind giving this to Todoroki-san?"
Looking towards the stack of papers in her hands, you asked, "Why don't you do it? The two of you are partners, after all. You'll be around him more than I will."
"I really must attend to something. I assure you, it won't take long." She dropped them on to your table, gently.
You watched her saunter away, a skip in her step when Jirou came into view. Glancing down, you realised that half of the papers were maths-based, and the rest were an amalgamation of other subjects. This project was a strange one, because it was basically just to show your accumulated knowledge on everything throughout the school year. You wanted to be incredibly sassy when talking with her, but for some reason, the acidic words on the tip of your tongue just wouldn't roll off. Before she had turned around, you saw a knowing grin playing at her lips. You thought this was weird, but then again, jealousy overtook you, and you assumed that it was her way of bragging.
Todoroki was a dear friend to you, but obviously, you desired a far more intimate relationship. His strong arms seemed perfect for cradling you close, holding you tightly and never letting go. Over the course of the year, his mismatched eyes had softened, but even when they were steely and cold, you still felt the beginnings of a cruel, unrequited love. You managed to become friends with him, and now he told you whenever something was bothering him. So, you figured that if he had love troubles, he would come to you. However, he never did. You didn't press him, but it appeared as if there was a mutual feeling between him and Yaoyorozu.
Sighing, you rose from your seat and stalked towards the forbidding desk, which Todoroki was sitting at. He gazed upwards, nodding. He opened his mouth, closed it again, frowned, and then decided to remain silent. You weren't sure what was happening, but it was upsetting you greatly. Piling the papers on his desk, you avoided eye contact, nodded, and walked back to your own desk, ready for the day to draw to a close. Todoroki watched as your shoulders hung low, and he noted that your movements seemed off, almost like you were fatigued.
When the day ended, he went home with Yaoyorozu, just as predicted. They talked, a happy atmosphere floating around them. You wondered about following them, but by the time you made up your mind, they had already left, and you could no longer see them.
The subsequent morning, a prominent, dismal aura surrounded you. Your project partner was Aoyama, and, unfortunately, he did nothing of significance, to aid in your plight. He also kept droning on about how sparkly and magnificent he was, and it began to really grate on you. In class, it was immediately apparent that something wasn't right, because everyone else was bubbly and jovial (with the exception of Bakugou), while you had your head on the desk, muttering to yourself.
"Are you alright, (L/n)-san?" Yaoyorozu questioned.
You really wished she would go away. "Yeah, just peachy."
When you removed your head from its wooden bed, you noticed that her and Todoroki, as well as Jirou, had pulled chairs up to your desk. The two girls seemed cheery, and the object of your affections was as nonchalant as ever.
"Alright, so we were talking about Santa." She clarified, well aware that you hadn't been listening.
Looking her dead in the eye, you countered, "Santa or Satan? I only know one of them personally."
Jirou slapped a hand to her mouth, trying to stifle a laugh.
Yaoyorozu appeared stumped, and at a loss for words.
Todoroki yawned. "I don't know either of them."
