Fascination had seemingly eclipsed all sense of rationality - the usually timid but determined boy was tailing your entourage, simply because his ever-curious eyes had glimpsed you wandering off school grounds with two yet-unidentified males. Rather than immediately jumping to conclusions, and chalking the entire endeavour up to a childish bout of jealousy, he reminded himself of the possible dangers: for one, none of your fellow classmates claimed any knowledge of the two men, and they could be attempting to lure you into something nefarious.

Clenching his fist tightly, the verdant-maned, fledgling hero stumbled forward, keeping pace with you. Evidently, you at least assumed a level of safety, because you felt able to converse freely, laughing and joking with the men. Upon...slightly closer examination (his vantage point wasn't exactly the best, as he couldn't risk being caught - you didn't tend to fool around often, which made your current actions all the stranger), Midoriya noted the proximity of your bodies. You were almost too close, too familiar. It was odd, certainly; his heart thundered against his rib-cage, but he definitely wasn't jealous.

As he drew closer still, his perpetually-wide and inquisitive emeralds twinkling with some foreign emotion (that absolutely was not jealousy), he decided to pay particular attention to your features - facial and otherwise. It occurred to him, after some amount of study, that all three of you resembled one another. Things started stringing together, gradually, until he could finally admit his mistake. By this time, he had followed you all the way home, only stopping outside the entrance to your garden. Realising that his fist was still balled, he loosened it, trying to flush out all the negative sensations, swirling around his veins (irrefutably, this roster didn't include jealousy).

"You two can go on ahead," A choir of angels resounded against the blackened sky. "I just need to take care of something."

Nodding, your siblings carried on, venturing into the house before you. With an agitated breath, you turned, and only then did Midoriya understand - you had, clearly, possessed the foresight to know that you were being stalked. Whether your wisdom extended further, so that you were able to instantly discern the pursuer as Midoriya, was up for debate. However, your expression solidified one main idea: you were less than impressed.

Before he could comprehend the situation, you had dragged him from his hiding spot. "What on earth were you doing? Why were you following us?"

"U-Uh...w-well..." Nervously crossing his arms over his face, Midoriya continued to trip over his words. "I - I just thought t-that...m-maybe..."

You frowned, acknowledging that the aspiring hero had only been this tentative in the beginning of his UA career - a wonderful confidence had since blossomed, and yet it seemed all but extinguished in this moment. Scolding yourself, you resolved to perhaps be a little nicer next time. After all, he endured enough screaming from Bakugou, and that was nearly constant.

Placing a hand on your forehead, in exasperation, you mumbled, "Right, start again. And please, try to calm down. I'm not gonna bite you, y'know?"

Midoriya nodded, albeit rigidly. Although, he only began his oration when he had managed to successfully relax his nerves.

"Well, I saw you leaving with those two, and I thought they might be trying to take you somewhere. I thought that, maybe it wasn't against your will, but that you just didn't understand the ulterior motives. I didn't want them to lure you into a trap, or do something that you wouldn't want..."

Before his utterings spiralled completely out of control, you waved a hand, frantically, just below his eyes. He snapped to attention, listening with renewed vigour as you responded to his ramblings. "I appreciate the concern, but I would have been fine. They're just my brothers."

"I figured that out..." Beads of sweat rolled down his face. "...eventually."

Whatever sickness had befallen his poor, fragile heart, it definitely wasn't jealousy.
