chapter twenty two: daydreaming

She sat in a field of wildflowers taking a breath in, it smelled like fresh linen, like there were sheets drying on a clothes line rather that in a machine. The sky was clear, and the sun was bright, but not bright enough to give someone a headache. Italy was perfect this time of year. The eight year old girl took a break from running to enjoy the scenery.

This wasn't real, Julia knew that, this was the past, a mere memory, that played like an old record. Snapping back to reality hurt, both physically and mentally. Julia jolted back against the wall and broke her shoulder, she hit her head and it started bleeding profusely.

"It will all be worth it when this is over" Stefan said. Her blood dripped down into her eyes turning her vision red, she drifted off once more.
