Nikko's adventure: Book 1 The 9 Trials

Chapter 16: Kid-like Gamers

Nicole asks Nikko if he wants to play a different game together, Nikko says yes happily and goes to change the game. Right as Nikko does this, Jessica asks if they want to go sleep as it is almost three in the morning and she is about to pass out. They both politely say no and start playing the new game, a roguelike bullet hell type game and as they play Nikko quickly notices Nicole's skill at the game and congratulate her. She giggles cutely while saying thanks, although here and there, Nikko jumps in the way and blocks a bullet for Nicole he still respects her skill. Jessica falls asleep a few minutes after with Pika and other stuffed animals with her, Nikko starts getting tempted to steal a wolf and grins while silently laughing. He pauses the game and quickly dashes to a wolf stuffed animal and grabs it, then goes back to where he was sitting all in the span of a second due to going at the speed of light. Nicole looks at him while frozen in place, confused and slightly scared while slowly untrusting Nikko as the seconds pass by. Nikko looks back at Nicole and apologizes profusely while saying he decided to let his powers show in full with her and asks why she's surprised at this when she saw him use his powers before. "I didn't know you could do things like that...I'm now thinking how dangerous you are..." Nicole says while curling up into a ball, Nikko agrees to how dangerous he is but also states that he lives to protect people, giving Nicole his word while hugging her reassuringly.

She calms down and hugs back, then they both grab their controllers and resume playing the game, Nicole starts thinking about how oddly great Nikko is at the game and gets suspicious. She yells at Nikko suddenly and says he's only good because of his powers, Nikko laughs and says only a noob would say that. He laughs more and more while Nicole curses at him, clearly angry at his comment and his "fake" skill and Nikko swears to Nicole that he's playing normally and like an average gamer from his world. Nicole looks at him in pure disbelief saying that there is no way the average gamer is that good at games, Nikko admits that he stretched it but saying that there are a lot of people from his world that are this good at games. "Only people with a lot of time, passion or love for games can get this good and trust me there are plenty of them, or there that special case where they are just automatically good" He says, Nicole asks if he is that special case and he says yes but also saying it is only because he grew up playing games. Nicole smiles showing she trusts Nikko again, saying she grew up with a controller in her hand as well, Nikko chuckles saying he can clearly see that in her skill.\

They continues playing for a few more hours, defeating bosses, getting new weapons and getting more and more powerful in the game as they go all the while losing little to no energy. Soon John comes back home "you two are still playing? Shouldn't you be like asleep it's really late, yeesh even I'm forcing myself to move" Nicole and Nikko both say they are far from tired and that the game needs attention, John sighs and goes to his room. A clear typing noise can be heard from his room, they decide not to mess with him and resume playing the game and progressing further, working harder together and defending each other. It gets to the point of where both are dead silent and focusing fully on the game and each other, they slowly get closer to the screen and closer next to each other. They bump into each other but continue to play with full focus, both slightly blushing and oddly enjoying the entire moment at the same time. "Hey do you think we'll ever die? I mean we're both like denying each other even getting hit...and this is endless mode" Nicole laughs stating they could just give the enemies a break dn let themselves die, Nikko denies saying his pride won't let him. She giggles while agreeing with him, the game making the enemies harder every floor but repeating the same floors and the same bosses, increasing both the enemies health and damage.

Even with this seemingly deadly increase every floor endlessly, Nikko and Nicole continue not getting hit and running through everything with ease. Only until at least and hour or two later the game starts to get hard and one hit almost ending Nikko, bringing him to one and a half heart and Nicole pauses the game. They look at each other stunned and frozen in place, they continue to stare at each other and the game screen being more then stunned
