Nikko's adventure: Book 1 The 9 Trials

Chapter 19: The Trial of Despair

The screaming gets louder and louder alongside the pace of Nikko putting on his gear and once he has everything on he zips through the door of his room into the living room. Jessica is seen cowering in a corner with almost infinite tears running down her face as she hugs one of her plushies tightly. She stares at a demonic and bloodthirsty mess of gore along with an evil and sadistic grin, it charges at her and she screams even louder. Before the demon gets closer to Jessica, Nikko drives his blade through its back and pulls it out, then spinning and slashing it in half. He picks Jessica up while almost carrying her on his side and then he asks where John is. She yells that John is at the center tower of the city, wasting no time, Nikko surrounds Jessica in a shell of sound along with a clone to defend her. He zips through the window and starts going full speed towards the center tower while cutting down and bashing as many demons as he can. The sight of countless dead corpses starts to eat Nikko up from the inside, as thoughts of guilt to not being able to save them start erupting. Trying his best to shake it off he continues to the tower and within seconds he reaches it, more dead corpses and what seems to be a war going on inside he dashes in.

Nikko sends out soundwaves all throughout the tower in search for John and starts ascending up using sound to propel himself. In mere moments he finds John's location, hiding behind a desk in a room four floors above Nikko. Without a moment's hesitation he zips to where John is, then pours sound and light into his shield and bashes a demon while sending out a deadly pulse, killing all other demons in front of him. He picks John up and surrounds him in a shell of sound as he yells at John to get out of the tower, they both rush out and Nikko dashes to where Nicole is fearing the worst. Once he arrives the first thing he is greeted with is her house completely destroyed and the wall of sound along with the clone gone. His heart rate starts to increase as he dashes into the house and instantly sends out soundwaves to find Nicole, but he comes out empty handed and sighs in relief. He leaves a clone behind just in case Nicole comes back and he continues to search the area for Nicole but again coming empty handed, only this time with a little surprise. After more searching he finds a letter, written from Nicole he immediately starts reading it "People say it's good to write out how you feel so...I guess I can try that but anyway these past few days have been really confusing and just overwhelming. Ever since Nikko arrived and we interacted it didn't feel like any friendship I've had before no....this felt like, love. I know he already has a girlfriend and I'm really happy for him but I just can't shake the feeling of needing him. Another thing would be is that my surroundings have started to feel eerie and ominous...as if something really bad is about to happen. What's going to happen? I don't feel safe at all, something's coming but...I have no one to go too and I've even told my parents but they just shrugged it off. Nikko, anyone please come help me...oh what am I kidding this is just me writing out how I feel...I won't be saved and maybe not even remembered. I've been playing the game Nikko showed me a lot recently, it's able to calm me down but It still can't shake this sick feeling of...death."

The letter cuts off, tears starts to form in Nikko's eyes as a deep feeling of despair and loss starts to arise in Nikko's heart. "Why didn't she come to us? W-why did her parents ignore her, they're her parents!...I can't think like this I-I have to keep looking for her and quick but...agh" he almost falls over from the overwhelming feelings. Not ever experiencing losing someone to death he freezes in place, his mind racing at what to do as tears start forming in his eyes again. "She isn't dead unless I've seen her body, she could still be out there" Nikko zips up into the air for a birdseye view but doesn't spot Nicole anywhere. Out of nowhere Nikko thinks about the ark that's close to being finished, he starts heading in its direction and the closer he gets the louder the mob of demons gets. He starts to hear gunfire and yelling, then he reaches a path leading to the ark along with a barricade and heavily armed soldiers firing at the demon horde to the left of him. He swiftly dashes past the soldiers and barricades, completely dodging the thousands of civilians rushing towards the ark to get inside. Once in front of the barricades he starts slashing, tearing and pummeling the countless demons making their way to the ark.
