Nikko's adventure: Book 1 The 9 Trials

Chapter 18: Discovery

Shelby wakes up in the next day, as she gets out of bed she is greeted by Alice who is currently trying to figure out how to use an oven.

Alice: um...Shelby what is this metal box...contraption?

Shelby: haha that's called an oven Alice, here look you turn these dials to turn on the heat see?

Alice: this world has magic???

Shelby: noo silly it's just electricity haha gosh

Alice: sooo...like lightning?

Shelby: yes exactly, see inside the oven is where you would bake something

Alice: I can already feel the heat, it is quite strong

Shelby: nothing to complicated but hey, anyway did you want to bake something?

Alice: yes I wanted to bake some bread, I also found some erm...cake mix at the store but it is in a powder..

Shelby: it's supposed to be in a powder don't worry

Alice: oh? So this world is full of magic then! How does one make a cake from just powder!?

Shelby: hahaha okay you're blowing things out of proportion, here look you pour the mix into a bowl like this

Alice: oh okay

Shelby: then you get some eggs, mostly 2 or 3 and put them in like so while stirring

Alice: Ohh quite fascinating

Shelby: here you go make your bread and i'll make the cake

Alice: ok wonderful! I will get right to it!

Shelby continues to make the cake as Alice goes on and starts to make her bread, using simple ingredients like flour and wheat. A few hours pass and Alice finishes baking her bread, she puts the bread in a bread box for storage and sits down, patiently waiting for the cake to finish. "Alice! The cake is finished! Help me put the icing on" Shelby yells, Alice quickly jumping off of the couch and rushing to the kitchen as she is greeted with Shelby handing her a rubber spatula. Shelby dips her rubber spatula into a chocolate icing and starts spreading it around the cake, Alice doing the same while giggling like a child. After some time the too take a few steps back to gaze at their masterpiece, then they both quickly grab a plate and take a slice of cake. Alice starts enjoying the cake almost immediately while squealing from the new taste and overall feeling "I do not care anymore! This world is full of magic!" Alice exclaims, leaving Shelby laughing uncontrollably. They both take a seat at the dining table and enjoy their cake and also start planning their day. Shelby asks Alice where she wants to go and Alice replies by saying she just wants to tour Times Square as it's Nikko's favorite city. "Nikko also really likes Tokyo so we can take a trip there maybe" Shelby says, Alice puts her hands up in the air while celebrating.

Some time passes and they walk out of their apartment building which is in the center of Times Square, Alice quickly starts walking around awestruck by the sight. Shelby walks Alice around while holding her back from running off into the massive crowd and visit the new years ball drop sight first. "Ah so this is where they celebrate new years" Alice asks, Shelby replies saying yes but also stating that it's a new discovery for herself as well since she has only heard of this from God. They linger at the sight for a while more, than they start making their way towards the freedom tower. On their way there, Alice makes a few stops to gaze at the technology and buildings in awe. Shelby taking quick stops at some stores to purchase souvenirs and other things like rings or bracelets. As they soon arrive to the freedom tower Alice quickly runs inside, Shelby chasing after her and seeing her again, stand awestruck from the inside of the building and the design. Alice asks Shelby if they could go to the top and Shelby happily says yes, she asks Alice to wait where she is for a moment to go get tickets.
