"Kyros, I really don't understand. "It's been almost two months!"
I was looking over some paperwork from my cousin Edward overseas. "What?"
"You know where your mate is."
"Yes."
"Why not go get her?"
"She needs time," I shrugged up at him. "She has suffered losses, and a lot of them. She grieved with me in wolf form, Gordon." I found that familiar lump forming in my throat form. "I just want her to breathe--"
"With another man?"
I stilled. "What?"
"There is a man at her job, and he is interested in her," Gordon informed. "I can smell the pheromones."
"And her?"
"She shies away, but she does like him."
I didn't like that, not at all. "Has he done anything?"
"I think he asked her out."
"Think or know?" I was growling, almost snarling. Gordon backed a step. I closed my eyes, knowing they had darkened with my mood.
"Aren't you feeling anything?"
"Just contentment, some loneliness from her, that's it." I was close enough to feel her in the city but it was sporadic . I looked out the window of my executive sublet, admiring the New York City lights. "She laughs a lot, I think, at work?"
"That would probably be Viola." He laughed himself. "Crazy people, but harmless." He was quiet for a moment. "So are you just going to keep going back and forth from Kincaid Manor? What about Mora?"
"What about her?"
"She is getting suspicious, as are others at the manor."
"I am Alpha, above question." I was becoming irritated. "Beta...are you backing me?"
Gordon's look of indignance immediately took the darkness from my eyes. "Alpha, I have always backed you...even when I don't understand. I trust you."
I looked at him. "Did you confirm the tattoo?"
"Yes," Gordon shook his head. "How did you do that?"
"So she bears our mark?"
"Yes, she got two tattoos," he nodded. "She picked ours out of nowhere, and then there is one we are still finding out about."
I nodded. "Good."

"I can't believe we spent the entire day cycling around the park!" Ben laughed. "We rock climbed, went to the zoo, rode a carousel, went around the reservoir, and just...played!"
"Don't forget Strawberry Fields," I laughed at Ben, then shrugged. "There's not many warmer days left, and I like it. It's huge, too." I looked around, sniffing the air. "Let's go to the falls."
