Chapter 24

Throughout the night, I'm unable to sleep with the pull of the blood moon growing stronger. I lay here in bed tossing and turning until I finally just give up on trying to sleep.

I get out of bed, feeling this rush from the blood moon. I look down at my trembling hands, looking at my elongated claws as my inner beast pushes forward. I take in a deep breath, slowly exhaling, trying to calm myself. I look down at my hands again, forcing my claws to retreat back into their nail beds.

I leave the room, needing a cold glass of water hoping to help cool down my body.

I look around at all the nice paintings on the walls as I make my way through the quiet halls of the castle. Durn the day the castle is always busy with people moving around, but durn the night its quiet as if the castle is empty.

I think it's very nice of father to open his home up to anyone who's in need of a place to stay.

Here it doesn't matter who you are. Here it doesn't matter if you're apart of a pack or a rogue, everyone is allowed and gets along here.

Once I get down to the kitchen, I walk through the kitchen doors to find BJ standing at the refrigerator.

"I guess you can't sleep either," BJ says looking over at me, taking out the things he'll need to make a sandwich.

"You're getting a late-night snack? The last thing I can think about is eating right now." I grab a cold bottle of water and take a seat on the countertop. I look over next to me at the meat and other things he has taken out. I haven't had much of an appetite for the past few days.

"It's for Alia. Now that she's pregnant she wakes up hungry in the middle of the night, so I make sure she has food waiting for her when she wakes up." He says, opening the stuff.

"You're really about to be a father. How does it feel?" I smile over at him as I twist the cap off the water bottle, taking a sip of the cold water. It's surprising to know that BJ is having a baby.

After taking a few sips of the cold water, I twist the cap back on and place the cold bottle against the side of my neck, to help cool my body.

"It hasn't really hit me yet, I'm sure it will once the baby is here." He tells me.

As he talks, I see that his teeth are slightly elongated. I look at his hands as he began to fix the sandwich, and see that his claws are also elongated, but it doesn't seem to be bothering him. He seems fine while I feel like I'm burning up right now.

"You seem to be dealing with the effects of the blood moon quite well." I frown a little, watching him make the sandwich.

He looks over at me, seeing me holding the cold water bottle to my neck. "When I get that sudden rush from the blood moon, I don't fight it. I just let it pass. I feel what you're feeling now. This on edge feels that causes the slightest thing to send your inner beast over the edge. The hotness and racing heart. I feel it all. Stop focusing on what you're feeling and stop fighting against your inner beast, just relax. It'll make things easier for you." BJ tells me.

Listen to what BJ said, I stop fighting the beast and try to relax. I feel the beast push forward and I don't fight it back. I feel my teeth and claws elongate the way BJ teeth and claws are elongated right now.

"Better?" He asks.

"Yeah," I say, looking down at my black claws. Now that I've allowed the beast to come forward, I no longer have to fight to keep it back every second I'm feeling this sudden rush that seems to last longer now.
