Courtney’s POV
“Well, I have to be going now”, Drew claimed. “Agent Jayden, please escort the ladies out”. He walked out the lab and left us hanging.
As I turned, I saw radar a few meters away from me. Without a doubt, I went near it. “Well, it certainly had been some time since the last time I’ve ever seen radar”.
“And it certainly is a surprise and a delight for a lovely lady like you would catch interest in such a persistent invention”, somebody said in reply from behind me.
I turned to see him. There, my eyes caught a boy in a lab coat about our age; his cocoa brown hair brushed to the right side and his eyes the same color as his hair. “Well, hello there. Would you mind if I asked you your name?” I tried my best to be as sophisticated as him since he was a genius, like me.
“Oh, yes”, he smiled at me. He brushes his teeth well. “My name is Collin Leonardo. Would you mind if I know your name as well?”
“I’m Courtney Potter and it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance”.
“The pleasure is all yours, my lady”.
“And I believe I haven’t seen you since my last visit”.
“Well, honestly, I stay here a lot, Miss Potter. And I suppose you’re a new agent”.
“Yes, well, I haven’t stayed long but I barely made it out of my training”.
He leaned closer to my ears and tried to whisper something quite private. “We us a lot of ‘well’s, don’t we? Call me whenever you like”, he handed me a card.
“What a senior scout”, I muttered to him as I handed him mine. “Call me whenever you’d like”.
“It would be a coincidence if we called each other at the same time”.
“Definitely”, I agreed.
Jayden suddenly walked into the area. “Courtney, we better go. Hey, man, I didn’t know you had a heart”.
“Everybody has a heart, Jayden”, Collin explained. “If I don’t have one, I could have been dead at the day I was born”.
“Sure you are and I meant you had a thing for the girl”.
“Uh, probably; she seems nice and reasonable”.
“Well, see yah later!”
I walked on my own towards the rest of the girls but I couldn’t keep my eyes off his card. Suddenly, at the time I was being devoured by his writing, I felt someone’s knuckles on my head. “My best friend is in love perhaps”, Alex spoke in a low voice but her tone was still rebellious.
“Stop kidding around, Alex”, I smiled. “I just think he’s nice and whatever. I don’t like him, okay?”
“Okay, have it your way”.
Jayden walked over to me. “Courtney, I leave the girls to you and I could assign you to distribute your new weapons and gadgets when you reach your hideout”.
“Oh sure”, I promised as Alex teleported us all back to her cabin.
“It’s good to be back!” Alex cried. “I’m back in my old body and my old house!”
“And I’m just happy you’re happy as me”.
“No you’re not”, Alex started teasing me again. “You’re happy to meet that dork!”
“He is not a… you don’t even know him!”
Coleen put a hand on my shoulder. “Come on, Alex. Stop teasing Courtney for crying out loud. She’s had enough”.
