Alex’s POV
Jumping down from a mountain of broken asphalt, I found a broken car under the heavy rubble.
I guess it was my lucky day. Who even leaves their keys inside a car? I might as well use this as my run away car or something. I’ll be glad to make myself my own driver.
I turned up the car and honked the horn. “Hey, guys, are you all coming or what?”
Everyone jumped in the car. It was just that simple to summon these guys into a car?
“Um, Alex, where are we going?” Courtney sat beside me in the front, getting a map from her bag, which took a while to find because of all the chemicals she packed. “Can you at least tell me first? Stop being mysterious for a while, even just this once…”
“Okay, okay…” I answered, starting to drive off to our destination. “We’re going to Detroit”.
“Wait, you mean, Detroit, Michigan?” Coleen asked enthusiastically.
“Uh-huh”, I smirked. I don’t know why but I love smirking.
Courtney inhaled deeply. “But… that’s ten hours away!”
“I know, but I don’t know another place for us to be safe in”.
“But…”
“Please stop doubting me, Courtney. Do you want another alien to go after you?”
“Well, I suppose I couldn’t say yes to that. Okay, let’s do it”.
“Woo-hoo…” Coleen cheered from the back seat.
I fixed the mirror on top nearby the ceiling. “Why are you so happy about it, Coleen?”
“Nothing to be explained of, Alex… It’s because… It is gonna be my first road trip to Michigan”.
“And it’s not gonna take ten hours…”
“Alex, calculations measured it takes ten hours and twenty three minutes”, Courtney explained.
“I know I know… I’m not a thing smarter than you, Courtney. I’m just saying that I’m gonna put in extra juice for this thing and we’re not getting much later. This trip will only take it halfway, about five hours. Is this gonna be safe?”
“I trust you… a lot, Alex… So, I guess, that would be safe…”
“Okay, I’m putting in the stuff”.
I stopped the car, went out and put in a blue glowing pill in the gas tank. “Thanks, Doctor for this invention. I never really knew this would work or even I would use it”, I muttered to myself. The car started up on its own with its smoke turning into fires. “Yes, this is deadly!”
“What did you say, Alex?” Addison asked from inside.
“Nothing…” I entered the car and drove off. And because of the throttle, I was on autopilot
“Well, I like this idea, Alex. Where’d you get the pills?” Courtney asked, reading some book about chemistry.
“Um, I lived with a scientist before”.
“You mean, the doctor who replaced your bones with iron?”
“Exactly…” I haven’t heard much of Doctor’s name for years. I miss him.
Now, I’m going back to Detroit where the place my mother passed away, my father got arrested and died in prison, I think, my brother got lost and where Doc found me.
