Izzy’s POV

So, that’s what Alex determined as a weakness? I had it in me all along! But, one step I should always keep in mind before I do anything. I should always remember to run faster than ever just to dodge being squashed my Alex’s powers. I can’t think of a good bribe and I’m not as threatening as Director William of SHEATH Agencies.

“Ah, but I still have one last move on you”, Manslaughter pushed another button on his machine. Under his press, tentacles started to grab all of us. “Now, it’s time for you mere mortals to die. Farewell and say hello to your God for me”.

“No”, Alex objected. “It’s gone far enough. Put me down and we’ll talk. I promise, if you put me down, we’ll have a soothing talk. I won’t hurt you, punch you face, kick you in the groin and knock your lights out or anything. Just put me down. We can talk about this”.

“Alex, stop”, I answered her. “It’s okay. You can save humanity. It’s okay if we all die. Our time has come. We’ve already made the most of it. Don’t worry about us and just go save the planet from the invasion”.

“You know, Izzy, this world was all I ever wanted. All I ever wished for was to be accepted like some normal guy around a park, with friends and everything. And at the start of our mission, I thought I could save the world with my strength. But I was completely mistaken. You guys are the ones who will”.

“Look, Alex, I’m sorry for calling you a double-crosser”, Coleen apologized. “I just thought that… you really did betray us…”

“Hey, don’t sweat it. It wasn’t anything. And I’m getting used to it anyhow”, she faced Addison and Courtney. “Take care, girls, whatever happens next”.

The mechanical tentacle put her down on her feet again. Alex turned into Alexander suddenly. She told me that she wanted to die a boy so I think that’s why she did that. The thought of him made me think of Max. He’s dead. I can’t even guess what Max told her that made Alex so angry. He told her he had a girlfriend, I think?

“Let’s get it down to business, Manslaughter; face to face”, he spoke, cracking his knuckles. “I can’t believe that I’m saying this but… let’s end this war now, please. Can you tell me why you had to do this?”

“I’m just the same as you, Alexandria”, Manslaughter replied in a gentle tone. “I wanted to be accepted. Back in Oriel, our planet that had been not yet discovered outside the galaxy, I was always been tossed around. The other aliens made fun of me and I always put in mind I’ll never belong with them until one day, I ran away from home. This ship was stolen, you know. All I ever wanted was to avenge myself”.

“This is… tragic”, I thought. “And Manslaughter sounds a lot like Alex, too”.

“You have the same life as me”, Alex answered. “I’ve been swept under the rug for so long and… I can’t even remember!”

“How about you and I end this feud?” Manslaughter put out his hand.

“Of course”, he agreed as he shook hands with Manslaughter but it wasn’t a declared agreement. Alex kicked the alien on his head which made his pass out as he also pushed a red button. “Psyche… since when did I ever trust an alien?”
