Alex’s POV
Well, to be honest, I’m still glad to be alive. Let me start the story from the day the world thought I was dead.
Yes, everyone established that I jumped off the train because some psycho turned my brother into an alien. But the truth was, fine, the truth flew out… I am stubborn. My vision caught my brother sitting on that chair Director What-Was-His-Name showed me. And I can’t believe I jumped.
As I had my feet safely on the railroad, I wasn’t as safe as I thought I was. What-Was-His-Name showed up and hit me with a whip. Then the aliens followed but with their own metal sticks. I fell and I can’t describe how much I hurt there but all my comments about it: Ow. “I knew you’d jump that train”, What-Was-His-Name said as he hit my back with his whip again. “You were so stupid, lion”.
I tried to get up. But every time I did, another alien would hit me down and make me weak all over again. “I have a name, you idiot”, I croaked and tried to scowl. “You’re a lot evil than I thought you were”.
“Oh, I am”.
“Did that dreaded brain butt send you?”
“Obviously, he called me in along with the entire army of aliens. And we wouldn’t have done this if you never gave us a decoy”, he threw the fake USB at my head. “You got us real good. But you know you have to pay for all your crimes, girl”.
I scowled. “So, you’re showing me that by hitting me several times at the back with a Texan whip and stolen metal tubes would make me pay for all my crimes? I’ve done hundreds of crimes all around the world and that’s all you could offer me for a punishment?”
“I almost sounds that you’re asking for more… very well, then. I’m sure the master would be pleased for such a decision you’ve requested for. Now, as I’ve observed, you’ll do anything for your family. I think we’ll be tracking down the real Abriel Chase, don’t you think so? Then we could watch him die altogether!”
“Where’s my brother?”
“Oh, we’ll see him soon enough, Chase. But for now”, he put a knife under my chin. “We’ll be imprisoning you first back at the ship”.
He pinned me down once more as some stupid alien knocked my lights out. The next thing I knew, I was on a bed that wasn’t mine. It was weird. I always got out of different and new places but that place was nothing but a house. It was a normal room with nothing much suspicious about it.
I stood up and wandered the place a little. It was a house. My hunches were right all along. All I had to now was who owned the room? And how the heck did I wind up there? The last time I remember, I was on the railroad and that the aliens and What-Was-His-Name pinned me down. It was weird.
Somebody opened the door without a sudden look. I froze in fright and I turned invisible automatically. “I swore she was here a minute ago…” a boy about my age murmured to himself. He had warm cocoa eyes, tousled black hair and he was just so… ridiculously, annoyingly handsome. Ugh, what is this, the part where Sadie found herself with Anubis in a graveyard? Don’t judge me but I love Rick Riordan. “Where are you?” Suddenly, his warm face turned to horror. “Oh God, please don’t tell me she woke up and searched through my stuff”.
“Actually, no, I was just wandering around”, I turned back to my visible version. I didn’t know why I spoke and showed myself to him but I felt bad if I scared him. “Why am I here anyway?”
“So that’s how you greet a guy who personally brought you down to my place?” he gave a relieved and warm smile. He walked over to me and reached his hand out, “Hi, my name’s Maxwell Sterling but I’d most likely appreciate if you call me Max”.
