Courtney’s POV
“Wait, stop!” I ran outside and reached out my hand. It was too late. Agent Vallore was gone. He must’ve teleported to his missions. “We are so gonna die”, I muttered to myself.
“Hey, Courtney”, Addison called from inside. I faced her as she spoke. “Come on, get in here”.
I followed her inside looking at the others. “This is quite a wonderful place. Agent Vallore booked us a very amazing room”, I complimented, looking at the walls, the entire room in fact and the door saying: Deluxe Suite. It’s quite impressive. Agent Vallore isn’t even our family relative but he can sure book a large room. Speaking of family relative, oh no! My mother might be looking for me!
Quickly, I grabbed my phone from my bag. It was still in one piece gladly. My hands were practically shaking. I was afraid what my mom would think. It started ringing as my nervousness grew and grew bigger; somehow, it was like taking over my body. “Hello?” Mom answered my call. Oh, boy, here we go.
“Uh, h-hey, Mom”, I greeted, my voice almost faltering.
“Honey, what’s wrong? Where are you? Are you okay? Are you at school?”
“N-no, Mom, I’m n-not at school. I’m at a hotel, quite far from Brooklyn Academy but it’s still in New York”.
“What are you doing there? You should be in school!”
“I know, Mom, I know I’m supposed to be in school at this very moment to study until this agency recruits me and four of my friends for some mission. I hope that will be okay with you”. I suddenly said that hopefully. Okay, I may or may not be telling the truth about four of my friends because Alex wasn’t my friend yet. She doesn’t talk at school but she’s amazing when it comes to running. At sports, not that much, or is it I just don’t know.
I heard Mom sigh over the phone. “Um, I know you can’t tell a lie to me or anyone else and I suppose you’re right. I trust you with all my life. Just stay safe, okay, Hon? I don’t want anything to happen to you”.
“Okay, Mom. I thank you with my life back. I’ll visit some time, okay?”
“That would be great, Sweetie, and good luck on your mission thing”.
“Thanks so much for understanding, Mom and I should go now. See you in a few, take care and I love you so much, Mom”.
“Goodbye as well, Honey. Remember, stay safe”.
“I will”, I bid, taking my phone off my ear and hit the ‘end call’ button.
I faced the others having a good time at our room. Coleen found a good spot in living room and started to play this guitar she found, somewhere only she and God know. Izzy found a mirror in the room by a sofa and naturally started brushing it. Addison was just there playing a game in Coleen’s phone. I just stood there glancing at their partially serious and mostly happy-go-lucky faces. Meanwhile, we were missing a friend.
I jerked my head to the window and saw Alex hugging her knees and staring out the window as she sat on a sofa by a big window.
If I wanted something happening, I might as well do it myself. “Guys, may I have your attentions?” Everyone faced me, looking up from what they were busy with. “Woah, I didn’t expect that. Anyways, how about we introduce ourselves properly? I’ll start off. My name is Courtney, probably the same age as you”.
Coleen raised her hand from her guitar. “Coleen”.
“Addison”, Addison looked up from Coleen’s phone and smiled.
