Chapter 20

Coleen’s POV

“Oh, for the love of…” Alex cursed. I still can’t believe she’s alive. After every tear we shed off our faces, it turned out to be, she was alive. All this time wasted to cry for nothing! It was delightful to see her on her feet. I couldn’t describe how much we all felt when we saw her. Especially the part when she appeared with a guy. “Just go get them off that stupid darn rope, for God’s sake!”

“Alright”, he rolled his eyes away. He made it towards us. “Hey, chill out, girls. You’re practically in safe hands. Well… sort of”.

“Oh, you could say that again”, Addison nudged me as she grinned. I know what she meant. Oh, people are so like this. She’s planning something slightly mischievous. “Eh, Coleen…?”

Because of her, I completely forgot all about this mission. “Ah-hah, that’s true, all true…” I grinned back at her as we felt the rope not loosening but actually tightening. This boy makes me feel like he wants to kill us like the feeling I had when we first met Alex. “Hey, you like Alex, don’t you? Admit it, Max! Just admit your little tiny secret, you rebel lover!”

“Ugh, you want to be saved or not?” he tightened the rope more. “Teasing’s being saved for later but for now you need to get the heck out of this trap”.

“Oh, so you’re admitting that we can tease you after the mission?”

“Ugh, sure, dude, whatever!” he yelled.

Alex looked at us with enough rage. “Hey, I specifically told you to get them out of the rope”, she demanded as Director William strangled her and was choking her neck. “I didn’t tell you to kill them!”

“Ugh, bossy ladies don’t come around everyday…” Max murmured as the rope loosened. “Sheesh, she’s so… ugh, whatever”. The rope finally got off us. We were free.

“Aargh…!” Alex complained as she shot another nuclear gunshot towards Manslaughter. “Get off me freak!”

We ran over to her and tried to hold off Manslaughter but he had the traps with him. Yeah, if Max makes another move, all of us will fall into a giant pot of boiling acid beneath us. If Alex tries to threaten Director William, Manslaughter will not hesitate to push the button which will totally make us fall.

“There’s no escape now”, Manslaughter declared. “One more threatening move and say goodbye to your friends and you pathetic boyfriend!”

“She’s not my…” Max corrected as I punched him on his arm.

“Forget that sentence now”, I said as I pointed to the acid. “We have a bigger problem”.

Alex admitted. “Sterling isn’t pathetic”, she closed her eyes tight as if it was really hard for her to admit such a thing. Alex isn’t a girl to say that. She opened them and faced us. Her eyes were mostly on Max but hey, we were all in a dangerous trap. A single move and we’re all going to die. “None of them are”.
