✖️day off

they just needed a day off and that's what happened.

laura couldn't help but smile sadly at the boys who clung to each other like life preservers. there were tear stains streaked down both of their faces and could feel her own tears slip down. the past few days have been hell for tyler and her son, she could easily tell it was tearing both of them up in different ways.

she decided to leave them alone and let them sleep in. 

that didn't happen though, tyler waking up not that long after and snuggling the sleepy yellow hue closer. combing his digits softly through the curls and pressing gentle kisses to his forehead. tyler has been comforting josh throughout the night and sometimes josh being the one to calm down the brunet.

tyler heard a sleepy hum and smiled, "ty?"

the brunet gently cupped joshs cheeks and kissed him, josh taking a while to comprehend what was happening since he just woke up before lazily reciprocating.

they kissed for a good five minutes before josh pulled back and yawned, "hm, what was that for?"

tyler pecked his lips again and twisted the curls around his fingers, "just showing you love, baby boy."

the sleepy smile that showed on joshs face made tyler cuddled the boy closer, trailing his fingers up and down joshs back and nuzzling his face in the yellow fluff.

josh yawned again, "why are you in your clothes? aren't you hot..?"

tyler shook his head, "don't worry your pretty little head about me, ok? today is all about you."

the yellow hue giggled sleepily, his arms wrapped loosely around tylers waist and his hands lazily clutching the back of the brunets grey tank top. josh laughed when his stomach growled, he laughed harder causing him to snort and muffling his laughter by burying his face in tylers tank top, tyler couldn't help but join in since joshs laughter was contagious.

"hungry there, love?" tyler said after calming down, a few huffs of giggles still slipping out.

josh snickered, "how can you tell?"

tyler hummed out playfully and cupped the giggly boys face, gingerly kissing his nose, "your tummy kind of gave it away."

josh gasped and looked down at his stomach, small rumbles being emitted and more giggles.

"does my baby want food?" tyler mumbled out childishly, josh pecked his lips and nodded.

josh whined when tyler slipped away from his grasp and out of bed, rolling over so his back was facing the wall and making grabby hands at the brunet.

tyler laughed and shook his head but still picked up the yellow hue anyways, josh wrapping his legs around tylers waist and his arms around tylers neck.

laura cooed at the two boys when they entered the kitchen, tyler placing the whining josh down at one of the kitchen table chairs.

"morning, laura," tyler said, leaning against the counter as laura cooked. laura giving out her reply with a smile and looked back at josh.

"morning, sweetie, hungry?" josh perked up at the promise of food and nodded, making grabby hands at the brunet again and pouting.

tyler 'aww'ed at his love and went to pick up the yellow hue again, laura cooed at the two boys again as she placed two plates of pancakes on the table. tyler figured josh wasn't going to let go anytime soon so he sat down with josh in his lap, trying to keep josh awake while cutting up his food. after successfully feeding josh and eating up his own food, tyler was making some small talk with laura before the rest of the dun kids came huddling down the stairs and into the kitchen.

tyler decided it was their time to leave while laura hassled the kids to eat fast and get dressed for school.

"but mom, why does josh get to stay home?"

"that's none of your business, jordan."

tyler was now taking a sleeping josh back up to his room with the looming voice that won't seem to leave the brunet alone.

"I can't believe laura let you stay."

tyler rolled his eyes, "shut up."

"your mother should've killed josh right then and there."

"why don't you bother someone else, blurry? I don't want to deal with your shit right now."

tyler tucked josh in and kissed his forehead, peeling off his tank top and jeans; leaving him in his boxers before climbing in the bed and spooning josh. tyler growled low in his throat when blurry returned.

"you're stuck with me so deal with it. I haven't done anything wrong because its been your consequences and your actions, not mine."

tyler clutched the boy tighter, "my actions have been keeping josh safe, I chose to tell laura cause I know she won't say a thing."

"well your actions almost got josh killed, your actions have put josh through hell and he's still with you."

tyler could feel blurry rolling his eyes, " I'm not forcing josh to be with me, it's his choice."

"his choice is bullshit."

tyler could see the blurred figure standing in front of the door with his fists clenched together, "your choice of being here is bullshit."

"fine, if you want me gone that bad, I'll leave. but don't think I'll let you off this easy next time, let's just see how well your little 'love' sleeps today."

tyler watched as black smoke engulf the figure, not long after did josh twitch and whimper in his sleep.

"you're fine, love, you're fine," tyler kept mumbling out those words over and over again until josh laid still, trailing his fingers up and down joshs sides.

"that's it, nothing can hurt you, you're safe," josh mumbled out something before turning over and smooshing his face in tylers neck.

tyler had a hard time falling asleep after that, falling straight into a nightmare with no way out and no way knowing how much torture he's going to take before things get better.
