✖️why her?

josh didn't like parties. that was a fact.

but ashley did.

so, when she heard a party was coming up at weekes house, she was practically begging josh to go with her and he obviously couldn't say no to his best friend. so he said yes.

worst decision ever.

as per usual, ashley takes her pardon leaving josh all alone. letting him wonder the house that was littered with broken liquor bottles, filled with puffs of grey smoke, and kids that were drunk off their ass or either stoned danced and or making out with one another.

josh hated parties.

so here he was, knee deep in pool water as the music seeped through the creaks. ashley still nowhere in sight, but that was normal until morning. josh was even lucky enough not to see tyler here, he wasn't really surprised because josh never saw the boy once in his life until this morning or even at other parties.

but just thinking of him, the devil shows up. sitting right next to him but not saying a single word. something seemed off but josh didn't say anything either, enjoying the presence of the mysteries boy as the calm waters sooth his skin. only then did tyler speak a few words, wondering where his friend was and all he could give was the honest truth of how she disappears but then returns by morning. tyler said nothing after that and josh was grateful, soaking in a few more minutes of silence before getting up. asking the boy if he'll see him monday and only getting a nod and a small smile.

odd.

but josh didn't say anything and left.

the news hit him hard the following morning, staring teary-eyed at the tv as a women spoke about a death that happened last night during the party. a picture of ashley soon followed, her neck so bloody and bruised that he had to turn off the tv.

why her?

why ashley?

why?

josh wish he had the answer, but all he could do was lock himself in his room and cry every single tear until he was all dried up. he knew ashley would hate him for crying but he couldn't just muster up and pretend everything was ok and that ashley would come in the middle of the night just to give him taco bell and let him rant about his day.

he didn't even know what he was doing until he was outside walking on the outskirts of a park hearing struggled cries. walking towards the sound before even stopping in his tracks, staring wide-eyed at the crumpled body of a human laying right under a person. the person sensing something before turning around and locking eyes with josh, smirking a tiny bit. with his heart caught in his throat, josh could only stare at the one and only tyler. tyler flashing his sharp canine teeth before winking and everything disappeared, joshs mind blacking out for a split-second before coming back. starring at the now empty spot before leaving.
