(There is a one shot but it's important for you to read the background)
I'm gonna give you a little background here, in 1968 a group of students from the UNAM or national autonomous university of Mexico (this university is autonomous from Mexico's government, which means the government cannot interfere in any way on how it's managed and authorities cannot stop protests that go on in it) were protesting against the repression of the people, the lack of respect to human rights etc.
On October 2, 1968 thousandths of students gathered in the plaza de las tres culturas with the purpose of sharing a list with 6 petitions to the president of that time Gustavo Diaz Ordaz, at 6:10 pm a helicopter passing by threw a bengal over the plaza, shots started coming out of the top of the buildings, the army that was surrounding the group of students started shooting into the crowd in an attempt to "stop the aggression", the crowds were running away but a group of soldiers dressers civils started shooting from the inside of the crowd, those who ran away were stopped by the police or army who held them captive before killing them, the exact number of deaths is unknown because the government tried to cover The whole thing as an aggressive protest that had the students to blame with no more than 30 deaths (there were hundreds of students massacred that day)
Ten days after that the Olympics were celebrated in Mexico, not a single voice against the government interrupted them, those who dared to speak were silenced with death, with all that said 2 de octubre no se olvida (October second is not forgotten)
Alex POV
I sat with Thomas on my bed, we were talking about the meeting were going to have that afternoon, closed blinds and locked door
"I know we're gonna make a change Tommy" I caressed his cheek thanking whatever was up there for the beautiful man before me "the government can't keep this up much longer"
His eyes were shining with anticipation or nervousness, I couldn't tell
"You're gonna be there Lex so of course it will work, no one can overpower that mouth of yours" he grabbed my cheeks and kissed me, slowly , caring, appreciating the moments in which we could actually show affection to each other, his scruff scratched my chin and his fingers pressed gently against my cheeks, slowly he pulled away "I love you with all my heart Lex"
"I love you too"
*timeskip*
I was with Lafayette, John and Hercules; Thomas stood next to James Madison and Aaron Burr, we were listening to the leader of the movement speak when suddenly a helicopter was heard above us, I looked up just in time to see a bengal drop out of it, something was wrong, a shot cut through the air from one of the buildings surrounding us, another shot followed that one and soon there were bullets raining on us, I crouched in an attempt to protect myself pulling John and Laff down, Herc was soon next to us but his breathing was labored and a bullet was engraved in his chest, the screams suddenly came to me al together, the ones of despair, panic, pain, fear...a hand latched onto my shoulder, I looked up to Laff who had tears in his eyes, I noticed how wet my own were and how painful the scream that left my throat was, I latched to Hercules' dead body, his blood covering me before I was pulled harshly from him, Lafayette was dragging me and John who was screaming and kicking to go back to Herc, trying to get us safe, in the chaos surrounding me I catches a glimpse of a dead Angelica being hugged by a dying Eliza
I started throwing my head around trying to find Thomas, when I saw him I pulled on Laff's arm to let him know I saw someone, he hurried in the direction I pointed and soon we were next to Thomas, I clung to him
"Alex, we're not safe here, a guy with a gun came near James and shot him dead, he was dressed like us, they're trying to murder us all, we have to g-" he stopped suddenly and I saw panic wash over his face "oh god, god please, we need to take you to a hospital"
He dragged me as Laff took care of John, the four of us pushing our way out of the crowd, I was Really confused until I noticed Hercules' blood was still on me
"Tommy I'm fine, it's Herc's blood"
I shouted , he looked back at me and nodded before resuming his walk, we got to leave the plaza and ran to find refuge in close buildings, when we finally got to enter a building we found several other students there, Thomas clutched my hand and pulled me into an empty corner, Laff and John met us there, murmurs ran across the place some kids were clutching to each other, others were crying silently, some were talking about what happened;the only thing we all agreed on silently was the grief of our friends, the fear for our families and the bitter relief of escaping the shooting.
I clung to Thomas and placed my head on his shoulder
"Herc died Tommy, James died, Angelica died, I'm pretty sure Eliza died too" I looked up at him "they're slaughtering us"
"We're fine now Alex, I won't let them touch you, I promise"
"Guys, this all went wrong" John chimed up "I wish we all stayed home today"
"Don't say that mon ami" Laff took his hand "we are doing this for a great cause and if anything the blood of our friends, brothers and sisters will fuel the need for change in everyone surrounding us"
The doors bursted open, 5 police officers stood there, there were some sighs of relief that were overpowered by the gasps of fear, the man in charge started giving rapid orders and the rest of the officers raced through the building gathering kids who resisted on their grips only to be put down by the force of the kicks and punches of the officers, a cop approached our corner and made direct eye contact with me, as he grabbed Lafayette's and John's arms my eyes widened and I grabbed Lafayette by his leg as he was forced to stand up
"NO! NO! STOP! YOU CANT DO THIS! LET THEM GO!" the cop forced me to let go of Lafayette with a kick to the face, my head spun a little but I still tried to go after him, Thomas held me back whispering pleads to stay into my ear but I was dead to them "NO LET ME GO! STOP! LAFF! JOHN! GIVE THEM BACK!"
yells from different people drowned mine until a shot drew a yelp from most of us and then forced silence into our throats, oppressive silence that filled our mouths against our wills and stopped air from entering our lungs, cruel silence that was interrupted by a body hitting the floor, a boy, not older than 18 years painted the floor with his blood, the rest of the collected kin's were being force to kneel in a line, awaiting for execution, the sound of the shots started traveling across the buildings, body after body falling to the floor, there were 3 kids left until they got to john who lifted his head and made eye contact with me, tears eyes and regret on his face, he stood up quickly and turned around hitting the officer  behind him in the stomach, the cop and John had been fighting for the gun for less than a minute when a second officer approached and hit John with a stick on the back, John wailed in pain as he was forced into the ground as the life escaped from his body after too many kicks and impacts against his back
After the murder of John the rest fell silently, impotence, sorrow and fear seeping from their eyes , i felt myself die a little when Lafayette was put down and thrown into a pile next to John's destroyed corpse
"STRIP!!" an officer yelled "HANDS AGAINST THE WALL PENDEJOS"
I looked around, slowly everyone started stripping, we were left on our underwear and put against the wall some officers started going around with sticks, hitting people, the screams of pain were harsh and raw, you could hear the impact of the skin against the stick followed by wails of pain, this torture kept going for what felt like hours, Thomas and I got our fair share of hits, kicks insults and pain, but at least we were together
A moment came when exhaustion and excruciating pain was the only thing in my body, people were dropping dead and the bodies were dragged to the pile
The man that had been yelling orders the whole time grabbed a tank they had on a side and started spraying the bodies with the liquid that filled it, the smell of gasoline penetrating our nose thrills, a spark, fire, gone, John and Lafayette reduced into a pile of ashes and and burnt bones
The rest of us were dragged to trucks, it took me a second to realize  they were taking me and Thomas to different ones, he seemed to understand at the same time because he looked me straight in the eye and mouthed 'I love you'.
The next thing I remember is waking up in a hospital, a militar hospital where Peter wouldn't find us.
Today 50 years later I stand in front of the man that I loved so many years ago, the man I thought was dead, I step forwards and embrace him, his arms wrap around me too, we pull away slowly and I look up at him
"I love you too"
A/n: I doubted a lot to publish this chapter because I didn't feel the right to do so, I wasn't alive then and I haven't felt what they did but I needed to let people know , it's mostly unknown what happened on October 2, 1968 by those who are not Mexican so I felt the responsibility to share, I have a message to you, especially if you're from Mexico, the silence has abandoned most of our generation's throats, it has stopped chocking us into submission, we have to protect Mexico, fight for what's right and take the freedom your parents and grandparents didn't have, use the media to spread injustice you see, if our people gets to communicate we can and will overpower corruption an injustice, please commemorate dates like this for the warriors that died, to stop oblivion from filling our people and to bring the bastards that slaughtered hundreds of students searching for freedom and rights into justice
