"Wait, before you start talking about your 'epic Star Trek marathon', I have news." I opened my briefcase and showed them the arrow I dissected at the scene. They didn't look impressed.
"Barry. It's Kaitlyn." Cisco stated grimly.
I snapped my briefcase closed in confusion, "What? What's wrong with Kaitlyn?"
"I've been calling her all morning, no answer," Cisco's pupils danced in fear, "Barry, she always answers."
H.R. interrupted, "She mentioned something abut visiting her mother down towards Mercury Labs this morning. Ya' know, on the other side of the city."
"Wait-wait-wait. You don't think..." My eyes widened, then I came to the realization. "You don't think she took the subway this morning, do you?!"
Cisco's eyes stared at me intently, they're were bland, drained of color. It was as if all the melanin was extracted from his pupils, leaving only grey. His eyebrows furrowed, "What if-"
"No! She is not-she is not laying on those tracks! Kaitlyn-she can't be..." I paced around the room, muttering under my breath, "None of the casualties were recognizable. I couldn't see their faces; they were just 'Jane and John Do's'. I could have been taking samples from Kaitlyn without even knowing it."
"Aren't we forgetting something? Something rather important?" H.R. asked us, "Kaitlyn could be one of the hostages. We just need to find out where this meta is keeping her."
"How?" Cisco questioned.
"We need to find Heat Wave." I responded, "The crime scene had fire written all over it."
"I'm on it." Cisco ran over to his spinney chair, cracked his knuckles, and typed vigorously on his keyboard. "I'm locating the highest heat signatures in the city as we speak. We should be able to find Heatwave and Kaitlyn shortly."
Kaitlyn's perspective:
My wrists were wrenched to my back side, immobilizing my arms. I opened my eyes, but all I could see is black, complete darkness. When I tried to speak, only my muffled distress calls were audible. Duck tape forced my lips together.
A bright, blinding light penetrated through the darkness. My eyelids fluttered a couple of times until my eyes finally returned their natural, calmed state. I took a look at my surroundings. I couldn't see my captor, only his lair. Now, a new color flooded my vision: green.
