Barry's Perspective:

I held the substance in my hands; I knew it's potential. If Iris was injected, she would be able to walk again, run again, run faster than almost anyone in the world. It was the speed force. Harrison Wells had experimented with this theory a couple months ago. Kaitlyn took some of my skin samples and analyzed it for a special compound. They had wanted a cure for paralysis, and they had found it in my cells. They extracted the speed force from the samples and made a serum. It had never been tested before, so it was not guaranteed to work by any standards. But, if Iris ever wanted to walk again, this would be her only option.

"It's never been tested, but it could work, Iris. You could be able to walk again."

She placed her fingers on the vial, and immediately withdrew. Her eyes widened in surprise. "What was that? I just got shocked!"

"This fluid contains a compound of speed force-the energy I tap into in order to maintain my speed." I explained, "Iris, if you take this, you could possibly become a speedster."

I could see the confusion spread across her face. Her eyebrows knotted and her hands fumbled together nervously. She closed her eyes and licked her lips. Slowly she said, "I want to take it."

"Are you sure, Iris? This-what I have-is a lot to take on. Secrets consume your life, you can never escape them. No matter how much you try to run away from them." I raced back and forth around her room, lighting sparking her medical equipment. I appeared behind her in a flash. Startled, she snapped her head around. "This... changes your human life."

"My life is already full of lies, Barry. I have to hide your secret. It won't be much different hiding mine," she sighed, "I need to walk again, Barry."

"I know." I squeezed her shoulder, and grazed the top of her head.

"Just do it without warning. I don't want a countdown or anyth-"

I poked the needle through her skin and injected the solvent slowly. As I did, I looked into her eyes. Around the pupils of her eyes, bolts of deep purple sparked, covering the mocha brown I'm used to seeing. I stared at her in awe.

"What? What is it?" Iris questioned
