Iris' Perspective:

The ceremony grew silent; no one dared to flinch a muscle. The orchestra cancelled their harmonious tune. The cellists paused in their fluid bow strokes, and the harpist held her hand in the air, preparing for the next note that would never come. A shiver spread down my spine as a ghostly and uncanny feeling wafted in the great hall.

  "Hello, Iris."

I turned my attention back to Eddie's wounded body. I couldn't avert my eyes from the blood on his chest. It dripped down his arms and torso, saturating his skin in red. His face was skinnier, and his voice was gruff. Rougher than I remembered.

  "How are you... "

"Here?" he interrupted, pointing his finger at the ground.

"I was going to ask, 'how are you alive?'"

"Fair enough," he shrugged, "I'm not." He pointed at his bullet wound. "Remember?"

I closed my eyes and drowned out the memories. "Yes, I do."

"But, I will answer this question. You are in the Speed Force."

"As in, the same 'Speed Force' that Barry was stuck in?" I inquired.

Eddie adjusted his uniform and responded, "As in, the prison for all speedsters."

My face displayed a world of concern. I brought my fist to my forehead and paced across the isle. How do I escape? My jeans swept against the carpet as my muddy sneakers left footprints behind me. Wait... if this truly is the Speed Force why is Eddie here? I spun on my heels back to his linear expression.

He smiled, "One: You can't escape; it's impossible. Two: I'm not Eddie."

  "You can read my thoughts?"

"Yes, it's quite annoying!" He exaggerated the last word, "You ask too many questions. Most humans do anyways, but speedsters-their minds go-" He clapped his hands rapidly against each other.

I suddenly flashed back to the moment Barry returned home from the Speed Force. He ran up to me and felt my face, as if he couldn't tell if I was real. Later, he explained, "While I was there, I was tortured by your face. They talked to me in the form of your body. Your dead corpse." I came to a shocking realization.

"You are the Speed Force."

"Ding! Ding!" he cheered. He whistled as if he were releasing viscous hounds. In a way, he was.

The same winged creatures I had seen before came rushing towards me. They phased in and out of the audience, flying swiftly down the isle. Their gnarled faces grimaced and let out a sinister growl.

The Speed Force laughed, "Fetch! Catch that disgrace
