Barry's Perspective:
"Now, Iris, I want you to run to me-SLOWLY! Slowly, nice and slow," I directed, making big gestures in my direction. It was kind of like I was training a newborn how to walk-well, that's exactly what it was like.
"I know I'm a 'newbie speedster' and everything, but please, don't treat me as an infant."
I chuckled with laughter as I put on my shades. "Come at me."
She grinned, unveiling her shining pearly whites. Iris snapped on her safety goggles, pulling the hair away from her face. Purple lightning blazed in her eyes as she hurled toward me.
I whipped around and watched her pass another mile behind me; she overshot by 56 miles. Within seconds, she ran back to me, her ponytail whooshing behind her.
She rocked on her toes, and fiddled with her S.T.A.R. Labs hoodie. Finally, a smile broke her blank expression. She howled with laughter, and I joined her, relishing in our happiness.
"You know what? Everything's gotta start somewhere." Iris cheered positively.
"True," I replied, "Okay, next lesson! Control."
"Uggghhhh! Boring! Why can't I learn how to create tornadoes with my arms?" She attempted to mimic the motion, "Oh! Or maybe throw a lightning bolt!? What about time travel!!??"
"No-no-no-no. No time travel. At least, not for a loooonngg time*." I stated firmly, "We will start by learning control."
She gave me a discontented glare, and even placed one hand securely on her hip.
"Control." I repeated. She rolled her eyes. "I want you to sprint, run-as fast as you can."
"Really?" She asked surprisingly.
"Yes, but here's the kicker: after about 30 seconds, stop. No falling over, no flailing of any arms. That's the training."
"Sounds easy enough," Iris responded confidently. She strode over to the start line (really just two parking cones) and placed her right foot above her left, getting in runners' stance.
I shouted, "Three! Two! One!"
She rocketed forwards, flying my 'Ray Bands' off my face. I saw her struggle to maintain footing and utterly fail. She flipped and crash landed, skidding an extra few feet after that. I raced over to Iris and keeled down beside her.
"Oww!" she cried, studying a bloody gash on her shin. I smiled; I knew what would happen next. I watched her expression change from pain to utter shock and amazement. The blood flow ceased, and the wound vanished like magic. "Whoa, I can heal?!"
"Yep."
I offered my hand and helped her get up. Her eyes were full of excitement, her irises were vibrant will color, and her face contained a permanent grin. "Want to race?" she asked, flashing her gorgeous smile.
My eyebrows furrowed; I didn't want to frustrate Iris. Obviously, I was faster-a lot faster. I just didn't want to discourage her. I was about to say "no", but conceded at the last minute. "I'll take it easy on you."
"Fine with me!"
We galloped to the make-shift start line, and took our positions. I starting counting down, "Five, four, three, two, o-" Iris darted over to me and ran her lips over mine. She wrapped her slender arms around my neck, and I pulled her closer to my chest. She suddenly pushed away, and winked. She snapped her fingers, and dashed to the finish. I woke from my daze, and ran after my wife, a wide grin spread across my face.
