Harry's POV:

Everything was a blur. Or I was just too drunk to pay clear attention. Seeing people crowd around, I pleaded with them to stop taking pictures.

"Were you with her at the time she was hit?" one of the paramedics asked

"Yes," I nodded.

"Can you tell me what happened?"

"We, we walked out of the club and she started twirling around and dancing and walked into the street. The car came out of nowhere," I cried and gripped Ellen's bloody hand.

"You need to come to the hospital with us." Simply nodding as they loaded her into the ambulance, I climbed in and took hold of her hand again.

"You'll be okay. You're okay," I sniffled and kissed her fingers held in mine.

"Starting O2 on patient. Tell them she needs to go into OR immediately. Possible internal bleeding along with fractured or broken ribs. Heavy bleeding around puncture wound in lower left of her torso," the paramedic commanded. Tears were consistently flowing down my cheeks as we finally reached the hospital and I rushed behind them.

"Sir, she's going into surgery now. You'll have to go into the waiting room," a nurse said calmly.

"That's my girlfriend! I can't leave her!" I screamed trying to get past her. "Ellen!" Feeling a few more hands on my torso, I fought to get away from them.

"Get your hands off of me! That's my girlfriend!"

"Sir. You've got to calm down. If you don't, we will be forced to call the police."

"I've gotta get to her!" I screamed and fought as hard as I could against the hands grabbing at me. Finally collapsing on the floor in a heap of my own tears, the group of doctors finally scattered. Crawling toward the chairs, I laid my head on the seat and continued to cry. What if she didn't make it? Why did she have to go dance in the street? Why didn't I keep my hands on her?

"Mr. Styles?"

"Yes," I sniffled. "Yes is Ellen okay?"

"They have her in surgery and they're doing everything they can to make her okay. They sent me out here to make sure you were okay," the woman smiled. "Let's go get some coffee." Nodding, and wiping at my face, I stood and we walked toward the cafeteria.

"What happened?"

"She, she was dancing and walked into the street. Car came out of nowhere and hit her."

"Damn."

"I know." Looking down at the Starbucks logo, I took a long sip.

"What's her name?"

"What's your name?" I countered.

"Susan."

"Her name is Ellen."

"Tell me about her."

"She's, she's extraordinary," I smiled. "She's been through so much and still always came through strong as ever. She used to be blind and then she had a procedure and now that she can see, it only adds to the beauty she had."

"Go on," Susan smiled.

"She is like the sunrise. She can fill you with hope and strength and let's you know that everything will be okay. She calms me down when I am so angry that I'm seeing nothing but red. Every time I sing, I sing for her. She inspires me to be a better person. Just seeing her happy makes me happy and I know that when I come home from a tour, she'll always be there waiting."

"You love her, don't you?"

"I do. I really do. I love her more than anything."

"That's why you were going bizerk in the ER wasn't it?" I nodded.

"I see. Well, son, the kind of love you have is special. Special in a way that it's like you two are the same person. When she's happy you're happy, when she's upset, you're upset. What you just described is a once in a lifetime kind of love. And you don't ever wanna let go of that. This is the kind of love people only wish for. This is the kind of love you fight for, the kind you absorb like an eternal drug. You've got a live one, sweetie. Don't throw her back." My heart was pounding in my chest and I sipped my coffee. Sitting in silence with her, I checked my phone and it gleamed 2:46am. Rubbing my eyes with a sigh, we walked back toward the waiting area and she left me alone to collect my thoughts.

"Are you Harry?" a deep voice asked and my eyes jolted open.

"Yes," I nodded, clearing my throat.

"I'm Dr.Schmidt. We finished operating on Ellen and she's going to be okay. The way the car hit her, it fractured her spine and she also has three broken ribs and a broken leg. On top of that, her puncture wound was deep, but we were able to stop the bleeding and stitch her up. She'll be in a lot of pain, but she'll be perfectly fine."

"Thank you," I nodded, taking in every single word.

"You can come see her. She's not awake, but if she does wake, it'll be nice to have someone there she's familiar with." Walking toward her room with him, it was dimly lit and quiet as I walked inside. Hearing a slow beep of hr heart monitor, I pulled the chair to her bedside and grabbed her hand.

"I love you," I whispered, and kissed her now clean hand. Laying my head against her arm, I closed my eyes, falling asleep.
