Ellen's POV:

A year. 12 months, 365 days, 52 weeks. An entire year. One hellacious year since I had seen him. I can't even say his name anymore without wanting to cry. I mean, Dylan filled the void that not only filled my heart, but it seemed to fill my entire being. My life felt like it was going in slow motion and I had to mentally think to myself to get up and put one foot in front of the other. To go to class, run sprints, write in my journal. No matter how stupid I thought journaling was, I had ended up filling six whole journals of my thoughts, dreams, and regrets. Dylan had asked me about my relationship with Harry before we started dating and I had refused to tell him even though he told me about his exes.

Dylan was good to me. He made me feel like I was important, wanted, and nobody really said anything nasty about our relationship. Not that Harry didn't make me feel all those things, he did. More so than Dylan, but I could never tell Dylan that. When I hugged him or we cuddled, I could forget everything and it was like we were the only two people left on the planet. With Dylan, it didn't feel right even when he told me he loved me. I had overused the phrase "I love you" so much since Harry and I had split that I didn't know what it meant anymore. At least when I said it to anyone other than Harry.

Now, we were in London for the week we had off before thanksgiving and I was terrified of running into Harry. I mean, I know he wasn't always in London, but I'd already managed to run into Niall and Liam and they had invited Dylan and I out to celebrate my belated birthday. Reluctantly, I agreed with the prior knowledge that Harry was in Los Angeles. Here I was, standing in a pair of leggings, bright red high heel booties, a black turtle neck and a bright red scarf to match my shoes. Not really wanting to go out into the dreary November weather, I sighed as I raked eyeliner over my eyelid and tried to finish my makeup knowing Liam and the other boys would be here soon.

"You look beautiful," Dylan murmured, wrapping his warm arms around my waist.

"Thanks," I chuckled and managed to finish everything just as someone knocked on the door. Opening it to find Liam, Louis, Niall and Zayn all with wide smiles on their faces, i happily let them in.

"Either you've gotten taller, or I'm just really short," Louis teased as I hugged him and his head hit right under my boobs.

"It's the shoes," I laughed as I wrapped my arms around Liam and Niall at the same time.

"Those are fucking fantastic shoes," Louis complimented. "I bet-" Zayn elbowed his ribs and gave him a mean look before we hugged and I rolled my eyes.

"Bet what?" I chuckled as I walked to grab my clutch.

"That all the girls at the party will be jealous," Louis smiled awkwardly.

"Please, they won't." As we all headed toward the elevator, I had to fix my bra and laughed as the doors opened.

"You'd think they'd make these big enough for taller people," Dylan joked.

"European success," Niall replied with a wide smile.

"Be nice," I mouthed.

"Where are we going again, Liam?" I chuckled.

"It's a club on stafford street. The Purple Page." (An-not a real club or street)

"It's loads of fun. I used to go there all the time with a friend of mine," Louis added. Was that friend Harry? Louis and I had become oddly close since Harry and I had broken up. We'd text, FaceTime, and even call each other from time to time. By time to time, I mean everyday. Making our way through the lobby and into the two cars outside, I was smushed between Niall and Louis in the back while Dylan sat in the front and Liam drove. The ride to the club was silent through the nighttime London traffic and I couldn't help but look at all the lights from the jungle like setting around us. Trying to find a parking spot was hell, when we finally did, I climbed from the backseat and felt Louis smack my butt.

"Let's get a move on, slow poke! I'm getting older over here," he teased. "Nice butt, too."

"You know your butt is better than mine," I laughed.

"It is, but we can say yours is better for tonight." Walking down the wet sidewalk, I couldn't help but feel calm and like I could finally let loose.

"Let's get some drinks!" Niall exclaimed over the pop music that boomed through the club. Walking toward the booth that Liam was leading us through the crowd to, I immediately stopped. Grabbing his arm and shrinking down, I didn't think I could speak.

"Why is he here?" I snapped. "You fucking said he was in LA."
