"What is the thing?" the officer asked.

Jimin's eyes grew slightly wider. Taehyung couldn't help but notice how apprehensive and nervous Jimin was. And understandably so.

Because perhaps, perhaps Jimin had killed Hoseok?

"I'm sorry?" Jimin squeaked.

"The thing you forgot, that you came back for, what is it?" The police officer pressed on.

Jimin looked away from the officer, and his eyes travelled on the carpet until they reached Taehyung's shoes. His gaze went up until he met Taehyung's eyes, but he quickly looked away.

Taehyung frowned.

Jimin looked so nervous, so unlike himself, that he couldn't help but wonder if the boy was high again. It didn't happen often, Jimin smoking weed. But when it did, Jimin wasn't Jimin anymore. He became a sweaty mess, an anxious boy that seemed so calm but that could explode at any moment without warning. And the explosion, no matter the reason, would always destroy everything around it, like an atomic bomb dropped in the middle of Jimin's life.

And Taehyung couldn't help but wonder if, perhaps, Jimin had been high that night, and if Hoseok had been his Hiroshima.

"It was - it was just some cigarettes, you know, for s-smoking. I smoked on the balcony. Cigarettes. O-on the balcony."

"I see." The officer narrowed his eyes. "I don't need to tell you that such a lie, about your presence here, doesn't work in your favor for the investigation. But alas, five other people were here, so the fact that you were too doesn't make you the main suspect per se. Although, your lie does."

Jimin froze.

"Unfortunately, lying isn't admissible as proof of murder in court. And so I ask that you, all of you, remain in this apartment until we gather sufficient proof to formally accuse someone. Until then, keep sending me any information you think might be relevant."

The officer focused back on Jimin.

"I really hope you were on the balcony, that night, Jimin, and I'll make sure to check. Otherwise, you might need to find yourself a good lawyer." The officer concluded.

Jimin's right hand was slightly shaking under the gaze of the officer. Taehyung noticed how his eyes were moving all over the place, and how tense his shoulders were.

Taehyung looked away, not bearing the sight. The sight of his best friend being a nervous mess, the sight of his best friend being the main suspect because he had lied, the sight of his best friend that was slowly morphing into the sight of a suspected murderer.

Because Jimin had lied about being in the apartment, and he had lie about smoking cigarettes. But now, Taehyung couldn't help but wonder if he had lied about killing, too.

__________

"It was weed, okay? I came back to smoke a little." Jimin loudly whispered. "I didn't see Hobi, he was sl-sleeping. And I was high. I couldn't tell the police that I came back to get ill-illegal drugs that will land me in jail. I - I couldn't tell him that. But what if, what if he finds out?"

His worried gaze found Seokjin's, who was sitting across from him at the outdoor table on the balcony. The same balcony Jimin had been on when Hoseok had been killed, possibly. To Seokjin, that was the scariest thought of them all: that the other members were so close to the murder as it happened
