CHAPTER 2
After what seemed like an eternity of sobbing I heard footsteps outside my door, the person stopped outside my door as if contemplating if they should come in or not.
After a few minutes I grew tired of waiting for my mystery guest to knock, so I just got up and opened the door.
I was greeted by the back of my brothers head “where are you going?" I asked Ayden as he turned around slightly surprised
“I didn’t think you would want to talk right now, I was just leaving, but since you’re here now would you like to talk?”
“Of course, come in” I said while wiping any remaining tears off my face.
We walked over to the white couch in the corner of my room and sat down beside each other. “how are you taking things” he asked with an empathetic tone.
“Obviously not well considering both my bed and gown are soaked with my tears.”
“Sorry, that was a stupid question”
“No, its fine I guess I’m just still processing”
He looked down at me and took my hand in his.
“I know it was wrong for father to make this decision for you but at the end of the day there really wasn’t anything else that could have been done, it was either this or another war with the Asgardians. Do you really wish for that to happen?”I looked down at the floor knowing he was right and sighed
“I know, and I guess I have no choice, but its still pretty upsetting, the peace treaty was signed two months ago, he had all this time to tell me but instead he kept it from me, I’m leaving in three days! How is that fair, to give me a period of three days to say goodbye to everyone and everything I love, to be taken away from my home to live with strangers, to marry someone that I might end up hating!" I exclaimed
“you have a point, it wasn’t fair for father to wait this long, even I have known longer than you have.” he sighed
“how long have you known?” I asked getting curious
“about 2 weeks” he said guilt clear on his face “ I wanted to tell you, I really did, but father forbid mother and I from telling you before he allowed us.”
I looked down to the floor with a deep dread for my father, how dare he keep this a secret for so long!“its fine, from now on I have to focus on the future, I mustn’t wallow in the past, there’s nothing I can do about it now.”
“If it makes any difference I heard that Odin’s sons are quite the catch with women” he smirked.
I laughed at his remark “well at least I know that providing an heir won’t be a problem”
We spent the next few minutes laughing till our stomachs and cheeks hurt, then Ayden saw the time.
“look I have a meeting with the council in five minutes." he stated apologetically "but please promise me that if you need to talk things over, you will come to me.”
I smiled and nodded.
“I’m here for you if you need anything” he said as he embraced me in a tight hug and whispered “I love you Kate” into my ear.
“I love you too, and thank you, but if you don’t leave now you will miss the meeting” I replied pulling away from the hug.
He stood up after kissing my forehead and left the room leaving me alone with my thoughts. What am I going to do? I mean that’s not really a necessary question since as Ayden pointed out I have no other choice.
All I can do now is hope that this guy is somewhat decent.
A/N
I hope you enjoyed the second chapter!
I also hope that the chapters aren't too short, originally chapter 1 and 2 were separate but it seemed too long so I decided to separate them. Should I make the chapters longer or keep them at this lengthDont forget to vote and comment!
