CHAPTER 18
I sat at my vanity and combed through my soft hair, still focused on the blonde woman at the feast. I told myself I was being paranoid. With the wedding in one week, my stress levels were over the top and I was over thinking everything. But the woman seemed so hateful towards me and it was slightly frightening.
My period had also been an entire week late which was another thing to think about. I want to go to the healers and ask to be tested but then they would know that I'm not chaste. That news would be spread and before you know it the entire castle staff would be buzzing about it.
What if my parents found out? They would be furious, going to the healers was not an option. No matter what happens I will not go to the healers before the wedding.
[10 minutes later]
I walked through the hall towards the infirmary to get checked by the healers.
I didn't care if they found out, I just want to know whether or not I'm pregnant.
"Your Highness, how may I be of assistance?" curtseyed the head nurse.
"I would like to have a pregnancy test." I told her. Her expression failed to hide the shock she felt at my request. She quickly nodded and ushered me over to an empty bed. She closed the curtains around us even though the infirmary was empty while asking me to lay down and reveal my stomach.
She placed a hand on my lower stomach and applied slight pressure as her hands glowed a light blue.
"Pregnant." She whispered gaping at her hand.
I was lost for words. I was filled with thousands of feelings and emotions. I was overzealous but at the same time scared. How would I tell Loki? How will he react to the news? We hadn't even gotten married yet.
I thanked the nurse and got up from the bed.
When I left the infirmary, I was still in shock. I am carrying Loki's child. The mere thought of it sent chills through my body.
I walked back to my chambers my footsteps echoing through the silent halls. I wonder if the baby will inherit my powers. Can I even call them powers? I mean they only came once and then disappeared. I wonder if they would come back?
"What are you doing up so late, love?" Loki's voice came from behind me, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"I couldn't sleep, so I decided to walk around the palace." I lied turning to face him.
"You're lying." Loki pointed out effortlessly. "There is no point in lying to me, Katherine. I can sense it."
"It's nothing." I insisted.
"Either you can tell me what's bothering you or I can just search your mind. Whichever you prefer."
I sighed and looked to the ground contemplating whether I should tell him or not. Giving in I took a breath before looking him in the eyes and telling him "I am with child, your child."
The pure shock on Loki's expression was undisputable. Loki broke into a smile " are you serious?"
I nodded in response. Loki pulled me into a hug. " I can't believe it." He whispered into my ear with a slight laugh.
"I can't believe it either." I smiled to myself. The realisation that I'm going to be a mother finally dawning on me.
"Do you feel well? Are you well enough to attend the ball tomorrow? Loki asked in concern pulling away to meet my eyes.
"Yes, I feel fine." I smiled.

Thank you for reading! Sorry for the short chapter again. School has been keeping me busy. I have already started the next chapter and I promise that one will be much longer.
Do you think the baby will be a girl or a boy?
