CHAPTER 13
Katherine's POV
I sat in the library reading my book when I heard footsteps come towards me. I looked up to find jane smiling down at me.
"Hi, mind if I sit?" she asked nervously.
"Sure, take a seat." I gestured to the armchair in front of mine.
"I wanted to talk to you about Thor, he told me something and its really been bothering me." She began.
"Oh, so he finally told you?" I asked her relieved I don't have to be paranoid around her anymore.
"Yes, he invited me to the family dinner, and I'm not sure how to act and dress or what the hell I'm supposed to talk about."
Oh, so she still doesn't know.
"I would be glad to help you find an outfit, and as for your behaviour just be respectful and polite," I advised.
"What about discussion topics? Should I ask them about politics, weather, family?" she asked prancingly.
"I think its best if you just don't speak unless you're spoken to. Frigga always asks how our day was, what we did, and occasionally she asks for our opinions on the most recent ball or formal event." I informed her trying my best to be as helpful as possible.
"So, I have nothing to worry about?"
"Not a thing." I reassured her.
We continued to talk about the differences between our homes and Asgard. Everything was great until she asked, "So why did you come to Asgard? If you're the princess of Alfheim, why don't you live there? I honestly thought that Thor had a sister and never told me when I first saw you."
"She came here to marry Thor." Came a deep voice from behind. When I turned around I discovered that the voice belonged to Fandral, a member of the warriors three.
"What!?"Jane shrieked, standing up, her face red and eyes filled with fury. "You're here to marry my boyfriend!?"
"Yes, but it's arranged, I'm trying to get out of it." I tried to calm her while glaring at Fandral who seemed to be enjoying the chaos.
"I can't believe you! How dare you! Does thor know?" Jane continued yelling as she threw the book in her hand towards me just missing my shoulder.
"Jane, calm down. Yes, Thor knew. He was supposed to tell you, but I guess he's quite the procrastinator."
"Wait, so he knew about the engagement, and he didn't tell me?" Jane realised tears spilling from her eyes.
I nodded.
"I can't believe it. He told me he wanted to show me his home, not that he wanted to invite me to his wedding with another woman." Jane cried.
I tried to comfort her, but the second my hand reached out to her shoulder she snapped at me. "Don't touch me, you bitch! You took away my man! I will never forgive you!"
She says that like I cared, I've known her for what, one week? Of course, I care and am upset about the situation but I'm not going to beg for her forgiveness.
"Fuck you! Thor and I are happy together, I'm not going to let you ruin that! So, you can just go and fuck yourself, you bastard!" she continued yelling at me, louder this time.
Thor, Loki, Odin and Frigga came running in.
"What is going on?" Odin spoke, catching the attention of Jane who finally stopped yelling.
"Is it true? Are you really getting married?" Jane turned to Thor ignoring Odin.
"Yes, it is." Thor admitted looking to the ground in shame.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Jane asked hurt.
"I was afraid to lose you." Thor croaked.
Fandral left the room silently, having already caused enough damage.
"Do you see the pain that the betrothal has brought upon us, father?" Loki cut in. seizing the opportunity.
"I have made my decision and I it is final." Odin voiced calmly.
"Please, your highness, you were open to the idea of me marrying Loki before. What has changed?" I asked Odin, desperation dripping from my voice.
"Thor is next in line to the throne, tradition says that when it comes to betrothal whoever is closest to the throne must be wed." Odin explained.
"Then I give my title of next in line for the throne to Loki. I will be second in line, meaning he gets to marry Katherine. Allowing me to be with Jane." Thor reasoned.
"It is either that or Katherine and I run away." Loki turned to Jane "How is Midgard these days?"
"It's called earth, and to answer your question, better now that you aren't attacking it anymore. Earth is far better without your worthless presence" Jane sassed at him.
"Do not sass me, mortal. You mewling quim, I am Loki, prince of Asgard. Don't you dare speak to me like that." Loki sneered, pulling out his daggers and pointing them towards her face.
"Enough!" Odin roared.
