CHAPTER 20

The morning light passing through the windows woke me up. I noticed that Loki was still asleep. I reached out and cupped his cheek smiling to myself. He looked so peaceful.

Loki's eyes slowly opened before focusing on me. "Good morning, love," he mumbled with his raspy morning voice.

"Good morning." I giggled leaning down to kiss him.

I suddenly remembered the strange woman from yesterday, Sophia. What was her problem? How did she know Loki? I wanted to ask him, but I didn't want to ruin the moment.

Loki must have noticed my sudden change of mood. "What's wrong Katherine?" he asked sitting up.

"It's nothing," I told him.

"That's what you said about the pregnancy." Loki pointed out. "What's wrong?"

After considering my options I decided to tell him, hiding it was pointless.

"At the feast a few days ago, I noticed a strange woman staring at me. Yesterday at the ball, she approached me. She said her name was Sophia, and that you two were close. And that you were even closer with her sister." I informed Loki who was obviously taken aback by the situation.

"Sophia?" Are you sure that was her name?" Loki asked me.

"Yes," I confirmed.

"Shit." Loki cursed standing up from the bed while magically dressing us both.

"Who is she? And who's her sister?" I asked, standing up with him.

Loki sighed and ran his hand through his slick black hair. "Sophia is the younger sister of my past lover, Sigyn," Loki admitted. "We courted once, but it was over a hundred years ago. Sigyn was overly in love with me, while I wasn't. When I ended things with her she grew furious and she-" Loki stopped for a minute taking a deep breath.

"She couldn't handle it. She went berserk and broke into the palace countless times trying to harm my family. She even attempted to slit my mother's throat once." Loki croaked tears welling in his eyes. "It was awful, but that was the least of it." Loki continued sitting down on the bed. I sat next to him and held his hand as I continued listening.

"Sigyn claimed that she was pregnant with my child and tried to get my father to arrange our marriage for the sake of our unborn child. Which was a petty way to get someone to marry you if you ask me." Loki scoffed and looked to the floor sighing. "Father refused to arrange our marriage without proof that it was my child, so he got the healers to do some tests on her to find the father of the child. The tests showed that the baby was, in fact, my child. I refused to marry her regardless of the baby. I agreed to care for the kid, but I couldn't marry her. After that, she-" Loki stopped for a moment before continuing "Here let me just show you." Loki placed his hand on my forehead I closed my eyes and a bright green light surrounded me.

I opened my eyes as the light disappeared. I looked around taking in my surroundings and noticed I was in a small room. Odin, Frigga, Thor and Loki where there. In front of them was a blonde woman who I presumed to be Sigyn. At the corner of the room was a healer who held a board most likely containing the pregnancy test results.

Sigyn was in tears as she yelled at Loki "No! I don't care! You will marry me! For our child! "She yelled at him as he hesitantly tried to leave the room guilt spread on his face.

"Come back! You will not walk away from us!" Sigyn grabbed Loki's wrist trying to pull him closer.

"I already told you." Loki calmly spoke to her. He seemed tired and upset. "I will care for the child, financially and I will help in raising him or her, but I will not marry you."

Sigyn backed away a smirk playing on her lips. She then pulled out a dagger from behind her. Everyone's eyes widened.

"Sigyn, what are you doing?" Odin exclaimed.

"If Loki won't marry me I'll kill the baby!" Sigyn threatened her eyes filled with rage.

"What are you doing!" Loki fumed.

"Unless you marry me I will kill the baby!" Sigyn pointed the dagger towards her stomach, the dagger was almost touching her lower stomach.

"Sigyn, have you lost your mind? Just put the dagger down!" Thor tried to reason.

"No!" Sigyn refused.

"Child, please!" Frigga pleaded.

"I am giving you one last chance!" she turned to Loki who just stared at her shocked.

Loki was distraught but only stared at her lost for words.

"Fine." Sigyn stabbed herself. The blood gushed out of her abdomen Loki gasped along with everyone else in the room.

Frigga was in tears as Odin tried to comfort her.

Thor rushed to Sigyn's side. The healer ran towards her as well trying to stop the bleeding.

A green light surrounded me again as I reappeared in Loki's chambers. I looked up at Loki he was distraught. I hugged him not knowing what else to do.

"I'm so sorry," I cried into his chest.

"I thought I was over it." Loki cried with me. "I don't care for Sigyn, but the child, I was prepared to care for that child, to be a better father than my own. But then..." Loki trailed off.

"It's in the past now," I comforted him "And besides, we have our own child on the way. We have to focus on her."

"Her?" Loki raised his brow humour in his voice.

"Obviously, we will have a girl." I declared.

"I think not. We will have a son." Loki argued laughing. It warmed my heart to see him laugh, especially after what he just revealed to me.

"We will have a girl!" I insisted.

"You are carrying the future king, and that is final."

"We will see."

"Until then, will you join me for a bath," Loki smirked.

"I would love to."
