CHAPTER 6

Dinner was torture. Thor spent most of the meal boasting about his last victory while the rest of us listened idly.

I am glad that formal family dinners only happen once a week. On other days we all eat in the hall with everyone else.

Halfway through our meal, Odin spoke up, "I have made my decision."

"For what, dear?" Frigga asked him softly.

"The betrothal," Odin answered, "Princess Katherine shall wed Thor, seeing as he is next in line for the throne it only makes sense."

I tried to hide my disappointment, I can imagine marrying Thor. The bare thought of it pained my mind. I would rather marry Loki over Thor any day.

"If that is your wish all father." I smiled at him.

I then looked up to Thor, who was to busy stuffing his face with chicken to even make eye contact with me.

I asked to be excused and left the room as fast as possible. I needed to get my mind of this.

                                                                               ~*~

I walked up to my room to clear my head. I was going to marry Thor, but why him? Why couldn't it be Loki?

I silently scolded myself for wanting the wrong brother.

I decided to change into a short white nightgown and go to bed early. after I had changed I walked outside onto the balcony desperate for some fresh air.

When I walked out I was instantly greeted by a rush of cold air. My hair now a mess I decided to pull out the pins and let the wind do as it wished with my hair.

I looked over the kingdom with a thousand thoughts racing through my mind. Not only was I going to marry Thor, but I was also going to be queen.

I was always thankful that it was Ayden that was given the title of heir to the throne instead of me. I don't have the ability to become a good queen, I would end up destroying the kingdom in less than a week.

I knock on my door snapped me out of my thoughts. "Come in!" I called out hoping that Loki had come.

Much to my disappointment, it was Thor who walked in. "It seems that we are betrothed Katherine." He spoke gently.

"It seems that we are, Thor." I said back to him trying my best to conjure up the most sincere smile I could while walking back inside.

He walked closer to me so that we were within arm's reach. "And you are not disappointed that it was me that my father chose?" he asked.

"Not at all, why would you question such a thing?" I lied.

Thor smirked before stepping closer, "Because I recall that during dinner your thoughts were 'I would rather marry Loki over Thor any day."

And with that he turned into Loki still smirking, leaving me stunned.

"First of all, you shouldn't be pretending to be your brother. And second, for the last time, get out of my head!" I yelled playfully hitting his shoulder.

Loki chuckled, "Admit it, you're glad that it is me who came tonight instead of Thor."

"Shut up, you can't prove that."

"Can't I?" Loki smirked.

Before I knew it, Loki's hands found their way around my waist pulling me into him so that our faced where inches away.

His face leant closer to mine so slow it was painful. My heart was beating so fast I feared it might fly out of my chest.

Just as I thought he was going to kiss me, he moved towards my ear and whispered, "Have I proved it yet?"

"Yes, you did." I breathed closing my eyes.

And without another word he left the room, leaving me both confused and breathless.

What was going on with me? Why do I feel like this about him? I had only known him for a day and I was already head over heels for him.
