Harry and I have been catching up on how we’ve both been since we’ve last seen each other. It’s been good to see how the other has been over the few months. As I am telling Harry about my niece, Anna, meeting Niall, Liam and Zayn, he glances down to my other pieces of manuscript.

He picks up the front page of the song and reads it out loud, “Distance?”

“Yeah, um… it’s a song about me and Louis…” I say hesitantly.

“Really?” He asks with raised eye brows.

I nod and murmur, “It’s not just from my point of view. I’ve taken into account how he must be feeling as well and incorporated that in.”

“Can you play it for me?”

“Um…” I hesitate. Will he think it’s stupid that I wrote a song about me and Louis? Will he not like it? Only one way to find out… “Sure.”

I adjust myself on the piano stool and glide my fingers across the tops of the keys before I begin to play.

The sun is filling up the room

And I can hear you dreaming

Do you feel the way I do right now?

I wish we would just give up

Cause the best part is falling

Call it anything but love

And I will make sure to keep my distance

Say, "I love you," when you're not listening

And how long can we keep this up, up, up?

As I am singing, I hear Harry fill in the male back up to create the harmony. It sounds truly amazing.

Please don't stand so close to me

I'm having trouble breathing

I'm afraid of what you'll see right now

I give you everything I am

All my broken heart beats

Until I know you'll understand

And I will make sure to keep my distance

Say, "I love you," when you're not listening

And how long can we keep this up, up, up?

And I keep waiting

For you to take me

You keep waiting

To save what we have

So I'll make sure to keep my distance

Say, "I love you," when you're not listening

And how long can we keep this up, up, up?

Make sure to keep my distance

Say, "I love you," when you're not listening

How long 'til we call this love, love, love?

I finish the end notes, gliding over the key with ease. When I’ve finished, I look at Harry and he looks me in the eye for a minute before smiling.

“That was beautiful. Just as beautiful as your last song,” He says and I blush.

“Thanks. It wasn’t like cheesy or anything?”

“No, no, anything but cheesy. It was straight from the heart. Truly beautiful,” he compliments and I blush again.

“Well, that’s good,” I murmur, “I was thinking that you were going to hate it or something?”

He nudges my shoulder with my own and shakes his head, “Don’t be silly. I would never say that… to your face anyway.”

I scoff playfully and roll my eyes, “Thanks, Styles. At least I know I can count on you for creative criticism.”

He chuckles for a moment and then looks serious, “Will you ever play this for Louis? I mean, I personally think it’d be a good idea, you know? For him to listen to it.”

I sit and think to myself for a moment. Could I ever play this for Louis? I would be even more afraid of him thinking it’s stupid than I was with Harry. Louis is a whole other story. This song is about him, about us. I would be very cautious in showing him this and playing it for him would be worse. Having him, sitting there and looking at me, playing this for him, it would be a lot of pressure.

“Maybe I could. One day. I’m just not sure how I would go. I think, if I had Louis sitting here with me and listening to me play it, I could literally break down and look like a fucking sook,” I explain and giggle at the end and Harry smiles.

“Well, guess you’re glad I heard it just then, right?” A voice says behind us.

I turn on the piano stool and lock eyes with the boy that I haven’t seen for months. His brown, feathery hair is longer than I remember, and his blue eyes hide a shade of sadness behind them. I look at Harry for a split second and then back at the boy.

It’s Louis, and he heard me sing the fucking song.

A/N: Hello again! This story is getting to be more and more fun for me! I love the direction it's going in.

Again, I understand the song written in this chapter isn't actually written by Kaitlyn. It's by Christina Perri and is called Distance. It's on the side. Listen to it, it's great!
