"I haven't seen the girl in, like, an hour." Bakugou pointed out as he lay on the couch with his phone.
Kirishima looked up from the baby, concerned.
"Go look for her!"
"Why?"
"Because she could have gotten hurt or something, Katsuki."
"Why can't you do it?"
Kirishima sighed, gesturing toward the toddler.
"Okay, fine."
Bakugou got up from the couch, his bones aching. He really should be more active, now that he thought about it. Apart from work, he normally just hung around the house.
Bakugou walked to the bathroom, peeking behind the shower curtains and under the sink. She wasn't in there.
Thank god for such a small apartment. They had gotten a deal on it two years back when they decided to move in together. It was two bedrooms so they had decided to use the second bedroom as an office, which was now fitted with a small bed and cleaned up for the foster kids. The little one came with a little cradle thing, so they decided to keep him in their room where they could watch him.
Bakugou thought back to when they had first moved into this place, how excited Kirishima had been, how he couldn't sleep that night because the redhead was so damn excited to be sleeping together every night for the "rest of their lives".
The only reason Bakugou had jumped to the decision was because he just wanted to get out of his parents place. Now that he was happily settled with his boyfriend, he felt guilty that he had started it on such selfish terms.
He hadn't told Kirishima that he felt this way. He felt like it would be hurtful. Bakugou didn't care if he hurt most people...but Kirishima...he couldn't bear to hurt that guy.
He opened the door to the spare bedroom, the former office, hoping that he could find the girl there. He checked under the tiny bed and in the closet, now stocked with old junk they had no place for. He couldn't wait until they were done with this whole foster kid ordeal so they could get their office space back.
"You in here, kid?" He asked, trying not to make his voice as annoyed sounding as he felt right now.
There was no response.
He sighed. The stupid kid better not be in their bedroom. That was space that Bakugou only kept between himself and Kirishima.
And the toddler...apparently.
"Did you find her?" Kirishima asked when Bakugou exited the room.
"Not yet." Bakugou groaned.
"Want help?"
"No thanks."
He slipped into their own room, turning on the lights. They always kept the room dark because they tended to take midday naps. Would they still be able to with kids around?
"Hey, you hiding?" Bakugou peeked under the bed, seeing a pair of bright brown eyes.
"Go away."
Bakugou tried to think of what HE would have liked to hear at her age when he would throw temper tantrums like this. He certainly would not have liked to be yelled at like his mother had. Screaming "Katsuki, get the fuck out of there" would probably do nothing for the situation.
"You can stay under there until bed time, but you don't get dinner."
"I don't care."
"Well, I was gonna make whatever you want but I guess I'll just make what Eijirou wants. He's probably gonna want broccoli."
THATS what he would have wanted as a child.
A threat.
If his mother had given him opportunities to make choices, if he had been faced with ACTUAL consequences apart from lectures as a child, he probably wouldn't have turned out as shitty as he did.
The girl thought for a moment, considering her choices.
"Can we have stir fry?"
"We can if you come out of there."
She finally crawled out from under the bed, pouting and huffing as she made her way out of the room.
Mission accomplished.
