Kirishima's friends came to pick up his stuff the day after that.
Bakugou wondered what took them so long. Maybe Kirishima had second thoughts about the whole thing...or maybe Bakugou was overthinking it and this was just the best time for the crew.
"How's he doing?" Bakugou asked, hoping to start a discussion. It was awkward haunt them root through the boxes of things Bakugou had packed up. He hadn't put them away because he wanted to. It was because seeing things that were so completely Kirishima, knowing that they wouldn't be together again...it hurt.
"He's fine." Sero said, voice flat and displeased.
"Is he eating right?"
"Yep." Kaminari answered with no enthusiasm.
"And he's sleeping okay?"
"Yes." Mina nodded.
Bakugou bit his lip.
"He's been pretty busy looking for a new apartment." Kaminari said. Mina elbowed him in the gut.
"He has?"
"Well, he can't stay with us forever."
"Oh...right..." Bakugou dropped onto the couch. He felt a heavy weight on his shoulders. This was it. This was it...the official end of the relationship. How was he supposed to move forward? He had never dated anybody before Kirishima and he doubted he could ever date anybody else.
"Is this all his stuff?" Sero asked after they'd picked up all the boxes.
"It should be." Bakugou grunted.
No. It wasn't.
"Wait..." Maybe he shouldn't give it back. Maybe he could keep it, give Kirishima a reason to come back.
But that wouldn't be right. He had already done enough to hurt the redhead.
"What is it?"
"His phone." Bakugou grabbed the device from the coffee table. "I turned it off because I know how it goes on the fritz if you let it die."
He placed the device in the box Mina was carrying, between a shirt and a folded pair of pants. The others gave him that sad smile, the kind you use on strangers you pass on the street.
"Good luck...with everything."
"You too."
The group left the apartment without another word, drenching him in more quiet and loneliness than he had ever felt in his life.
"What am I supposed to do now?" He asked himself. He had no boyfriend...no friends, he worked at a dead end job with no chance of ever fulfilling his dream. There was nobody here who he could talk to...
He wasn't even allowed with a damn pet in this place.
He sat back down, trying to think.
If there was one thing in his life that he hadn't lost completely, it was his job. As much as he hated waiting tables and dealing with shitty rich ladies who ate there, he was still employed.
Maybe starting at a fancy restaurant had been a bad choice. They were only ever going to treat him like a lower class.
Maybe what he needed to do was start small.
He opened the laptop on the coffee table, intending to look up job listings.
But when skype started up like it always did when he turned the laptop on, he had an idea, another way to fix his shitty situation. He clicked on the contact with two familiar faces in the profile picture.
They answered almost immediately. What else did they have to do these days anyway.
"Katsuki? You never call. What's up?"
"Mom...dad...there's something I need to tell you."
