"This is kind of like a date, isn't it?" Kirishima asked, linking his arm around Bakugou's free one

"This is kind of like a date, isn't it?" Kirishima asked, linking his arm around Bakugou's free one. Normally, the blond would pull away. He didn't want anybody to see him in public like this, but Kirishima was so warm...so gentle. Bakugou just couldn't bear to pull away.

"I guess. We have kids on it though." Bakugou nudged his head toward Hajime, who was tucked into Kirishima's other arm. Riko was walking ahead, far enough that she didn't have to talk to her foster dads, but close enough that she wouldn't get lost.

"So it's like family time then??"

Bakugou shrugged. "I guess. They're not ours though. Not forever."

"I guess. But they're family as long as they're here, right?"

Bakugou turned his head to hide the smirk on his face. "Yeah, sure."

"So, where's this spot you were talking about?"

"We're almost there." Bakugou assured. He had been to this park so many times as a teen. There was one place that nobody went to where they could play with fireworks and not bother anybody.

They came to the spot and Bakugou lead them down to the old abandoned skate ramp from his rebellious years.

"Cool!" Kirishima's eyes were so bright and excited. Bakugou wondered why he hadn't taken him here before. It would have been the perfect spot to sneak away and make out under the stars.

Fuck.

What was with this sappy shit all of a sudden?

"Let's eat." Bakugou held up the bag of takeout he was carrying along with the fireworks.

"You brought food?! Is it from the restaurant?! Did you make it?!"

"Nah. The head chef did. I asked him to."

Bakugou wanted to go on a rant about he never got to actually cook at the restaurant like he wanted, about how they always stuck him with the dishes.

But damn, this night wasn't for negativity. Tonight he wasn't going to bother Kirishima with any of his shit.

They spent the evening eating and lighting sparklers. Hajime was constantly laughing and squealing in Kirishima's arms and Bakugou was sure he had seen Riko smile a few times. It was hard for him to believe that he was really HERE, that he was experiencing a truly happy family moment for what was probably the first time in his life.

Riko came over and sat next to him around six. She had been lurking around the edge of the action, remaining her usual antisocial self. But this time...she was actually coming closer.

"You enjoying yourself, kid?" He asked.

"Meh." She shrugged.

"Same." Bakugou leaned back, looking up at the sky. "Do you miss your mom at all?"

"I don't know." She shrugged again.

"I get that."

It was only a few sentences, but Bakugou felt like she had given him a lot of trust.

No...he KNEW she had, because he had been that kid, frustrated by his parents and not wanting to talk about it because nobody had been important enough.

Maybe he could be important enough for her...
