"So, we have an announcement..." Kaminari cleared his throat.
"You finally stopped playing fortnite?" Sero guessed.
"As if!" Kaminari scoffed.
"I have no other guesses."
"There's a new flavour of Mountain Dew?" Mina guessed.
"I wish."
"We're getting married." Jiro answered for them.
"Married? Wow!" Kirishima grinned. He was so happy for his friends. They had been dating longer than Kirishima and Bakugou, since senior year.
"We're not sure when, exactly." Kaminari explained, smirking like a dork. "But it's definitely happening!"
"So, I guess you two are next?" Mina turned to Bakugou and Kirishima.
"We're not getting married." Bakugou insisted.
"But you're so cute to together." Mina sighed.
"We're not..." Kirishima looked down at his lap, where his hands fumbled uselessly.
"We're fine as we are now."
"Yeah..."
Mina gave Kirishima a sympathetic look.
"But...were thinking about getting a foster kid." Kiri admitted.
"Awww! Really?" Mina squeaked. "That's so great!"
"Whatever." Bakugou muttered.
"I think you'll both be great dads!" Sero stated.
"Can you name it after me?" Kaminari wondered.
"That's not how it works, Denki." Jiro sighed.
"I heard that Uraraka and Izuku are trying for a baby." Mina brought up.
"Seriously?" Bakugou scowled. "Aren't they, like, our age or some shit?"
"They've been married for a year. It was bound to happen eventually." Kirishima insisted.
"Could you imagine how cute their kids will be?" Mina cooed. "It'll be squishy cheeks galore!"
Bakugou scowled down at his breakfast. Kirishima started to get worried. Was he mad because Mina had brought up marriage? He always got huffy when marriage came up.
"Do you wanna go home?" He asked in a whisper that only Bakugou could hear.
"Nah." His response was tired, worn.
"Hey, we should totally have a party to celebrate Eijirou and Katsuki's new kid!" Kaminari suggested.
"Uh...we don't even know if we'll be approved or not..." Kirishima said, modest. "They only emailed me back this morning to schedule an interview."
"Are you guys planning to adopt at all?" Sero asked. "Like, have a permanent kid?"
"We're not sure yet. It was kind of a spur of the moment thing."
"I hope it works out. You could really change a kid's life." Sero blessed.
"Yeah..." Kirishima nodded. "We could."
"Shit, I've got to get to work." Sero said, sitting up suddenly. "I'll cover the bill for you guys. Don't worry."
"Jesus, how much is that shipping company paying you?" Kaminari gaped.
"Enough to cover brunch." Sero stated, walking toward the front counter.
"He's really making use of that business degree."
"Also I doubt he spends all his money on video games like you." Jiro rolled her eyes.
"You spend all yours on guitar picks, babe!"
"Which I use for work." Jiro was a musician in a band she had started back in high school. Kaminari was in IT.
"We should probably get going too." Bakugou stood. Kirishima followed his lead.
"Bye!" Mina waved cheerfully. Bakugou took his hand, something he never did in public, and the pair walked out of the restaurant to the parking lot.
The blond was silent until they had walked halfway home, hand still clamped around Kirishima's.
"We should get a car or something."
"Why?"
"Because I have my licence...and what if the kid needs to go to the hospital or something?"
"Ah..." Kirishima smiled. Bakugou was ACTUALLY making plans for this kid that they didn't even have yet. He was ACTUALLY taking steps to make sure the child was safe.
Maybe Bakugou wanted this more than he let on....
