Geoff sat at his desk, not really feeling anything. He couldn't stop thinking about the fight with his dad. He couldn't stop thinking about Awsten. He was torn between emotions.

He pulled out a piece of mint green paper from his desk drawer and smoothed it out on the table. He got his black marker, starting to write. He wrote for what felt like hours and hours. But this letter needed to be perfect. He twirled his hair around his finger as he wrote, trying to keep as neat as possible. He signed off and carefully folded the paper, slipping it into an envelope. He drew a big love heart with Awstens initials in the middle, then tucked the letter into his bag.

He went downstairs, avoiding the upset look on his fathers face. "Take your medicine." He muttered, not sure if his tone was angry or not, then walked out the door. He hopped on his bike and rode across the highway, thinking about Awsten. He hoped that that Jawn asshole wouldn't be all over Awsten today. He rode over the bridge, thinking about how well his plan was going. He had step one down.

'Step one. Make Awsten be friends with me. Eventually we'll get close, and he'll be all cuddly and adorable and cute and- Geoff, stop. He'll be a little more open about his feelings and things he likes so you can learn about him. Step two. Once you have all the information you need- oh wow, that's a cool bird- Geoff, stop. Once you have all the information you need about Awsten, start writing the letters so he falls in love with the writer, aka you. Duh. Wow, that's a big fucking bug.. Geoff, focus! Step three, the last step. Reveal it was you. He'll fall in love with you. Probably not. But he might like you. Maybe. God, he's so pretty..'

Geoff got off his bike and ditched it behind a tree, then went into school. He walked to his science class, his face falling. That dumb Jawn bitch was with Awsten again. Asshole. Geoff sat in his normal seat, deciding to text Awsten. He sent a simple 'hey!' And waited for the reply. Very impatiently. He checked his phone every few seconds until he got a reply. His face fell.

Awsten <3: Hey Geoff. Sorry I'm not at school today. I'm a bit sick and I'm at the hospital. They're trying to find out what's wrong with me. Ill see you tomorrow, hopefully!

Geoff frowned, replying back.

Me: Maybe I'll come see you today and cheer you up a little? I know we aren't really good friends but it's better to have someone there instead of no one! We don't have to do that, I thought it might be nice. Do you have a favourite chocolate? Chocolate makes everything better.

Step two of his plan was in action. He waited for the reply, butterflies erupting in his stomach when his phone buzzed.

Awsten <3: You're so sweet, I think that'd be good. My favourite chocolate is just plain. I'm in room 24 on the children's ward. I have a weird rash on me so please don't freak out, it makes me look even grosser than usual. I can't wait to see you! <3333

Geoff felt a blush creep up his neck. He couldn't believe this. He hurried to text back.

Me: I can't wait to see you too. <3 Do you need anything else? I can bring anything you want, I really don't mind.

Awsten replied almost immediately.

Awsten <3: Nah, I'm good. I'll see you later! <3

Geoff smiled and put his phone away, looking up at the whiteboard. Who needed photosynthesis when you had boys. So much more important, right?
